Iranian analysts and observers are interpreting today’s statement by the IRGC spokesman that Iran has lifted its self-imposed 2,000-km missile range limit as a significant departure from the military posture established under Ali Khamenei. - As is well known, the former Supreme Leader had personally imposed that restriction. In 2021, he even acknowledged having prevented the development of missiles with a range of 5,000 km. - As noted in various analyses, the announcement is now being linked to Mojtaba Khamenei’s emerging military doctrine, particularly his recent call for responses to threats without geographical limitations. - There is also a clear message to Europe. Iranian commentators argue that the previous 2,000-km ceiling was partly intended to reassure European countries that they were not considered potential missile targets. Following the recent war, that political calculation appears to have changed. - This may be another indication of a broader shift under Mojtaba Khamenei, with his father’s more restrained approach to the geographical scope of deterrence giving way to a more direct and confrontational posture. - However, lifting a political restriction does not necessarily mean that Iran already possesses operational missiles capable of reaching substantially greater distances. Indeed, the IRGC spokesman himself acknowledged that such capabilities would need to be demonstrated in practice. - In the end it looks like the significance of the announcement may be more political and doctrinal than technical. #Iran

2011 yılında Peugeot, İran’da 458 bin otomobil satıyor. Ülkede satılan yaklaşık her üç yeni araçtan biri Peugeot. Her şey yolunda görünüyor. Ama 2012’de bir anda işler tersine dönüyor. Bankalar para transferlerini kısıtlamaya başlıyor. Peugeot’nun karşısına korkunç bir sorun çıkıyor. Otomobiller satılıyor ama parayı tahsil edip ülkeden çıkarmak zorlaşıyor. Şubat 2012’de Peugeot parça sevkiyatını durduruyor. İran’daki fabrikalar Fransa’dan parça gelmeyince üretimde zorlanmaya başlıyor. Şirket her ay yaklaşık 10 milyon euroluk kazançtan oluyor. Fransızlar yeniden İran’a dönüyor.

Ayatollah Kaabi, a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, says Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei maintains direct communication with the Axis of Resistance not only through official channels, but also through “special channels.” - According to Kaabi, resistance groups provide the Supreme Leader with detailed reports. - An interesting acknowledgment of communication channels operating outside formal institutional structures, suggesting that the Supreme Leader remains personally involved in overseeing relations with Iran’s regional allies. #Iran

Replying to @citrinowicz

Iran will no longer rely on written US commitments and must see concrete action before relations can change, Ali Bagheri-Kani, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said. He accused Washington of derailing all four rounds of negotiations over the past 18 months by failing to honor its commitments.

Told @FT that #Iran wants most of the US commitments frontloaded, while nuclear elements — Trump’s priority — are deferred to the next stage. 🇺🇸🇮🇷🇶🇦 The war with Iran could be approaching its biggest diplomatic breakthrough in months... Tehran is now considering nuclear proposals it previously refused to discuss, while Qatar works to broker a deal with Washington. Trump also spoke directly with Qatar's emir about ending the conflict, just days after the GOP lost control of Congress in an election shaped by public anger over the war and rising gas prices. Nothing is agreed yet, and major differences remain. But after months of stalled negotiations, both sides appear to be moving again. Source: Bloomberg / Writer: Samuel

🇷🇺🇮🇷 Russia and Iran are discussing a new GAS PIPELINE network that could turn Tehran into a regional hub for Russian energy. Mohsen Rezaei says he discussed the plan directly with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The idea is rather clever. Iran has some of the world's largest natural gas reserves, yet STILL struggles with domestic shortages. Russia has enormous gas supplies but has lost much of its European market. So Moscow would send gas into Iran, helping cover its shortages, while Tehran could resell Russian gas to neighboring countries. And all this is being discussed while Washington is trying to pressure Iran into a nuclear deal. Source: @TabzLIVE on TG / Writer: Oliver

In the wake of Trump’s electoral setback, regional diplomacy appears to be picking up again. - A flurry of diplomatic contacts over the past few hours: - Iranian FM Araghchi spoke by phone with his Egyptian counterpart Abdelatty, discussing ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions. - Saudi and Pakistani Foreign Ministers also held a phone call, focusing on de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to regional crises. - Iran’s Ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, met Pakistani FM Ishaq Dar, who stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for regional stability. - Taken together, these contacts suggest that regional diplomatic efforts may be gaining momentum again. - Whether this will translate into progress time will tell. #Iran

An interesting reconstruction by Ezzatollah Zarghami, a member of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cyberspace, of the diplomatic contacts that preceded Mohsen Rezaei’s meeting with Putin in Moscow. - According to Zarghami, Steve Witkoff travelled to Moscow and asked Putin to mediate with Tehran to arrange direct US-Iran talks, without intermediaries at the negotiating table. Putin subsequently sent two representatives to Iran to meet Rezaei and seek a positive response. Tehran reportedly rejected the proposal. - Rezaei then spoke with Putin by phone, conveying the Supreme Leader’s appreciation for Moscow’s efforts, and agreed to meet him in person to explain Iran’s position. Zarghami claims the meeting had been arranged before Trump’s electoral defeat, with Rezaei travelling to Moscow afterwards. - If accurate, this account suggests that Washington sought to use Moscow as a channel to secure direct negotiations with Tehran, but that Iran declined the format while keeping its dialogue with Russia open. - This remains Zarghami’s account, rather than a version independently confirmed by Washington or Moscow. #Iran

In his November 4 message, Mojtaba Khamenei referred to the concept of “absolute deterrence”, arguing that Iran must continue strengthening itself across all sectors. - The expression has already sparked different interpretations inside Iran. Some commentators have gone as far as suggesting that Mojtaba has implicitly authorized the development of nuclear weapons. - But the message itself makes no reference to nuclear weapons or to any change in Iran’s nuclear doctrine. Instead, it places absolute deterrence within a broader vision of national strength, development and social cohesion. - Still, the term is broad enough to leave room for different interpretations. Those advocating a shift in Iran’s nuclear doctrine may now seek to use it to support their arguments. - What is interesting to me is precisely the gap between what the Supreme Leader actually said and what some in Iran are already reading into his words. #Iran
