A group of anti-war activists managed to become “friends” with dozens of Russian lawmakers and senators by posing as a pro-war poet on VKontakte. The poems they shared were actually translations of poetry from Nazi Germany. meduza.io/en/feature/2024/06…

Merry Christmas Eve!
The Mari Lwyd is coming....

Heidi and David kiss. David's dad kisses the historical society secretary, whom I think I forgot to mention but she makes good coffee. The kids beam. The deputy mayor brings by a Christmas ornament. Everyone is happy.
The microfiche is still broken, though.
THE END.
We get a flashback to David's dad and his father playing with a sleigh in 1955, which is unintentionally funny because they're dressed like they're in the 1920s. Hallmark is just as bad as math as I am.
If he really missed his son and wanted his son to see the message, wouldn't be have left it to him, instead of hoping that during his son's lifetime a historical society director would find and care about the scavenger hunt clues and would somehow tell the son about it?
Not only threw him and his mom out of the house, BUT DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE IT TO HIM IN HIS WILL. He left it to the historical society for the historical society director to live in!
David's father eventually finds the final piece of the Christmas scavenger hunt his father left him, an emotional message about the importance of fatherhood and family, which would have more emotional import if his father hadn't THROWN HIM OUT OF THE HOUSE when he was six.
I am so confused. There was clearly a complex subplot about local politics in this town that got cut for time.
The historical society's event at Heidi's house is a big success! The deputy mayor is foiled when a random woman sitting in the front row at the city council meeting turns out to be the real mayor, like Richard the Lion-Hearted showing up to depose John in Robin Hood.
