In “A Profile of Great-Grandparenthood in the U.S.,” @margolis_r & @AVerdery find rates of great-grandparenthood for older cohorts are stable bc of ↑ life expectancy & postponed fertility, but rates for younger cohorts are lower. @westernuSocSci @icds_psu

Hi #academictwitter, my university is thinking about changing our course website platform from OWL to either brightspace or canvas. What do your universities use? And how well do they work for organizing course material, announcements via email, message boards, and grading?

London Ontario is much more diverse than it used to be, and even more than most realize. The new census release finds that 22 percent in London, ON are immigrants, and of those, about 20 per cent are recent immigrants within the last five years.  cbc.ca/news/canada/london/th…

Joe Pinsker's new piece is out at the @TheAtlantic about how reporting on parenting and family policy has made him more worried about becoming a parent someday. Like all his work, it's so well researched and tells stories from demography and sociology so clearly.
Replying to @jpinsk
2/ I’ve spent the last four years reporting on parenting, and my final piece for @TheAtlantic is a reflection on how that experience has made me more worried about someday becoming a parent myself: theatlantic.com/family/archi…

This fall, I'll be teaching Research Design/Methods for our #Sociology graduate students @WesternuSoc. I'm looking for a variety of qualitative, historical, or other data (i.e. not surveys) that are available for students to do secondary data analysis. #soctwitter suggestions?

New paper out 🚨 An overview of the gerontology field in Puerto Rico and how migration is affecting the health of older adults left behind. Thanks to @AppDemography @AVerdery, @CarlosMdL58 & Dr.Monge for the support. I admit: it is exciting to see the island on the world map.😊
