ICEYE just published this satellite image of Victoria, Seychelles, taken in early September. The satellite used has been in orbit since June 2025.
There is a wind and solar farm on an island in the harbour.

24 datasets are now supported out of the box with the GeoParquet Downloader plug-in for QGIS. It only downloads what your map needs, potentially saving 100s of GBs of bandwidth.
This is an OpenStreetMap-based tutorial: tech.marksblogg.com/layercak…
Special thanks to @opencholmes for getting so many changes in on Friday evening.
This plug-in has been developed by numerous GIS-centric programmers over the past few years and probably has a few thousand regular users at this point.
I use it on a regular basis, and if you follow my feed, you'll probably have a use case or two for it as well.
October's @OvertureMaps' release is out. At 579 GB, it's 2 GB larger than last month. This net increase was almost entirely found in the places and transportation datasets.

If you're new to the Overture Maps datasets:

There are six new place categories, bringing the total to 20: accountant, design_service, engineering_service, home_service, insurance_agency and technical_service.
Meta's places are up a net 1.5M. Uberall, Birdeye and OpenTravel are new sources for this dataset and bring 920K places between them.
There are 88.4M places, up a net 7M from last month. This is mostly due to BrightQuery growing from 10M places to 33M (where they are at least one of the sources of any given POI or took over as the authoritative source for a given POI).
The buildings dataset looks to be completely identical to last month's. Canada's building count is exactly the same as last month's at 13,717,920. Lots of houses are being built in Alberta; I need to look into why the count hasn't increased.
Vantor's satellite imagery of Maito, Mexico, taken about 12 hours ago.
I added the first image of the place that came up in Google Maps.

17K tasks are queued up for the RADARSAT constellation between now and Nov 4. Denmark is tasked for the 2nd & 3rd. Rare to see mainland Europe footprints, so this stands out a bit. California & around Hawaii also stand out from the usual tasking sites. tech.marksblogg.com/canada-r…
