BOOM! @SenOssoff and @SenatorWarnock provide a press-release on the now 3(!) CorridorID intercity passenger rail planning grants they helped secure.
It is official, planning for routes from Atlanta to Savannah, Charlotte, and Nashville will move forward.

Today’s @MARTAtransit #CQ400 railcar event off to a good start — my ride to South Yard is the holiday bus!
Great update from MARTA on the #CQ400 railcars w/ detailed interior mockups/renderings, including the open gangways, wheelchair & bike areas, and rider info screens. This was such a fun project to work on – can't wait to ride one!

For this final day of early voting, we'll put in a bid for the polling location at Fulton County Govt Center at 130 Peachtree St.
It's a short walk from the Five Points MARTA Station! Transit Oriented Democracy😉
(BTW, there's an indoor waiting area, no standing in the cold.)
I remember well the stop that used to be here; it had a shelter and was very busy. Removing the main MARTA bus stop serving our Amtrak station in favor of a turn lane for cars remains one of the saddest decisions I've witnessed as an Atlanta transit person.
Replying to @TheReidATL @Amtrak
I had to catch a southbound bus to Arts Center after getting off the train once. The closest SB MARTA stop is a couple blocks up the street, because the city decided a low wall, and turn lane were much more important than a bus stop in front of a train station.
Weekend project: building a home @MARTAtransit arrival board using MARTA’s train API and the @HelloTidbyt display. Still making some tweaks but hope to publish the app to the community repo shortly.
Surprise discovery walking around Midtown tonight: the new Google building has a continuous, open (as in no access control) pedestrian connection spanning the (large) block between 12th and 13th.

Today I want to spend (too much) time talking about the partially self-imposed stranglehold Georgia puts itself in regarding funding rail improvements, both passenger and freight, and some ways to address them to unlock major mobility potential within the state.

Took @Amtrak Crescent from Charlottesville, VA to Atlanta, GA this past week and I thought I would share my experience since there are plans to expand in the Southeast with Atlanta as the central hub. 🧵
