Some quick facts: 🥚 The #Eggs from the Hub are larger, fresher, easily accessible, and affordable compared to backyard eggs. 🥚 More than 10 million eggs are available every year – that is 3x more eggs available at 40% lower prices for 21,000 rural poor. 🥚 175 #SmallHolderFarmers make 3x more income compared to what they earned before they joined the Egg Hub. 🥚 Eggs are more affordable, with the price per egg decreasing from $0.14 to $0.10. 🥚 Consumption of eggs has increased, rising from 2 eggs per capita per month to 9 eggs per capita per month, particularly among women and children. On Tuesday, October 17✨ Join us and @CIFFchild for the session 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, where we bring forth evidence and voices from 4️⃣ African countries 🌍 on the state of micronutrient deficiencies and the constraints of reaching vulnerable populations with healthy diets. ✨ As we collectively try find solutions to bridge this nutrition gap, we will also showcase the experience from the field in our work in other LMICs, which demonstrates that nutrition commodities will have to be part of the solution. A nutrition commodity is a food or dietary product that is specifically formulated to provide essential nutrients that is lacking in the regular diet of the target population. These commodities can include macronutrients (proteins, carbohydrates, and fats) as well as #micronutrients (vitamins and minerals), and can be the game changing path to accelerate improvement in maternal health, and child stunting, wasting and deaths in LMICs.
