Pupylation is a bacterial protein modification related to ubiquitination. Want to know how the only ligase, PafA, selectively recognizes a broad range of substrates? Check out the new study by Matthias Block @MF_Block et al from @EWB_Lab.

Dropping the anchor, how to TRAP a ribosome at the ER membrane!
Check out our new study describing a structure of TRAP complex interacting with the ribosome and Sec translocon published today in @NatureSMB
nature.com/articles/s41594-0…
We suggest a model where the TRAPα anchor could initiate the interactions with the ribosome, potentially even before signal sequence handover. TRAPγ stabilizes the position of TRAP at the ribosome and TRAPα-Sec61 interactions position the TRAP cradle at the Sec61 channel exit.
This study wouldn't be possible without all the amazing people from @The_Ban_Lab and @DeuerlingLab!
Big thanks to the remarkable Ahmad Jomaa @jomaa_lab and Martin Gamerdinger. Working on this project with them was a lot of fun, I enjoyed every moment!

Happy to share our study where we show how ClpC2, a partial homolog of AAA+ chaperone ClpC1, helps #mycobacteria evade natural antibiotics targeting the essential ClpCP degradation pathway. Congrats to Gabrielle Taylor, @cui_hengjun and @JuliaLeodolter! rdcu.be/c78n6

Is Alphafold-multimer overtrained ? When applying AF and AF-multi on a large set of human protein-protein interactions. We get clearly better results using the original version for about 50% of the pairs. Looking at a few examples AF-multi is just wrong (see magenta). #alphafold
