This is a fantastic backdrop for the 2026-27 season!
Early in his App State tenure, Dustin Kerns had his staff list every reason they couldn't win. Then they erased every excuse.
Now, @AppStateMBB has become the Sun Belt's most consistent winner.

When JMU missed its go ahead field goal in overtime, a teammate accidentally hit James London in the eye while celebrating on the sidelines. Three plays later, he drilled the biggest kick of his life, despite only being able to see out of one eye!

In the current day and age of NFL teams mailing in the preseason, I think it makes sense to not play any divisional games the first four games of the season - similar to college football.
Regardless, no team should be starting the season with back-to-back divisional road games.

Unacceptable lack of concentration. I’m committed to studying the film and getting back to the fundamentals. I’ll be ready the next time the ball is thrown my way.

It's hilarious that tonight's game is effectively being used to determine whether jet lag is real when in reality there are two approaches to international travel: 1) arrive early enough to adapt or 2) arrive late enough to stay on a consistent time zone. The 49ers took one approach; the Rams took the other. But neither approach is necessarily wrong, and just because one team wins doesn't mean that is the protocol everyone should follow.

In those two nights…

4 Top 25 Teams lost
West Florida won its first ever FCS game as 20.5 point dogs
Houston Christian won as as a 25 point dog
DeSean Jackson led Delaware State to a season opening win
William & Mary erased a 32-22 deficit with under a minute left and won in regulation
Weber State beat Northern Colorado on a blocked XP with 3 seconds left
Cal Poly beat Idaho with a GW TD on 4th & 8 with less than 10 seconds left
