Binance's initial investigation suggests that the security incident may involve a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed an attacker to gain access to a service container and submit unauthorized withdrawal transactions. We have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak. We will share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and the facts are fully verified.
The estimated total impact sits at around $6.3B. We have worked with blockchain partners to freeze affected assets, with ~$3 billion frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and the company’s funds. User funds are safe. We will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves once the remediation is complete.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has:
- temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed;
- revoked the affected address authorisation;
- engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds.
Our teams are working around the clock to resolve this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to confirm the identity of these criminals and bring them to justice.
Please rely only on official Binance channels for updates. Please feel free to contact Binance Customer Support if you have any further questions.

First time in a while I actually am losing interest in crypto as a whole man I’ve got my fire back for the creative job I had before (back again) and you know what I’ve found a peace I’ve not had in a long time.
Not sure what to do follow my passion or keep getting raped in the trenches…
Interesting times.
Never really understood the obsession with exchange listings.
Your token gets added as an asset. Now what? It may be listed next week, next month. Everyone buys to front-run the announcement, but who’s left to buy once it happens?
By then, onchain traders have already positioned themselves and are waiting to sell into it, creating sell pressure before the catalyst arrives.
Look at CashCat. By the time its listing was announced, the move had already happened. The announcement became the liquidity event, not the start of another leg higher.
We’ve seen it countless times: a major exchange listing marks the top because everyone who wanted exposure already bought in anticipation.
I’m not mad about it. Activity and exchange attention are obviously good, but people forget why a meme should run: the lore, culture, attention, and genuine desire to own it—not waiting for the same listing announcement to dump on each other.
A listing should follow a meme’s success, not be the reason people buy it.
