Those creating and circulating deepfake videos must be identified, investigated and prosecuted under the applicable laws including the National Security Act, with stringent & prompt action wherever warranted. @PMOIndia, @HMOIndia and @GoI_MeitY must act decisively and send an unequivocal message that such malicious attempts to mislead the public and undermine national security will not be tolerated. Even if a standoff between @adgpi and @MND_China in Arunachal Pradesh exists, as indicated by the DG @ITBP_official, stick to verified facts. Do not manufacture or amplify rumours. Those hiding behind pseudonymous handles to spread disinformation must be held accountable. Direct the full force of the law against those responsible for such mischief. But spare young people who wave the Tricolour peacefully, without violating Section 163 of the BNSS or any other law, and without resorting to violence. Distinguish between those who spread disinformation and those who express themselves peacefully.
