Imran risks ill-treatment, as he had been denied access to family and lawyer in utter disregard for the rule of law.
Glaring abuse of power!!!!
Free Imran Wakili!!!!!
The Nigerian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Imran Usman Wakili, who has been arbitrarily detained over social media posts alleging low turnout at the presidential campaign flag-off of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State. He was also targeted for his staunch support for former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai — who is also unlawfully detained for over 260 days.
His detention is unlawful and shows the Nigerian government’s complete disdain for due process.
Imran was arrested after security operatives tracked him to his residence in an estate in Karu on the outskirts of Abuja on 29 October. Heavily armed contingent of policemen invaded the estate Imran resides at about 4:30 p.m and asked security personnel to direct them to Mr Wakili’s apartment. Upon realizing Imran was not at home when they arrived, they arrested his younger brother, who lives with him, and the estate manager.
Right now, Imran is at the risk of ill-treatment, as he had been denied access to family and lawyer in utter disregard for the rule of law. Clearly, Imran is being punished for his critical and dissenting posts on social media. Imran Wakili did not commit any crime, and his unlawful detention shows abuse of power. It is perfectly within his right to express critical opinion on any matter of public interest.
Detaining Imran Wakili solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression is unacceptable and shows contempt for the rule of law. Under international human rights law, the mere fact that a social media post is considered unpalatable by those in power or any public figure is not sufficient to justify arbitrary detention by the police.
The government of President Bola Tinubu must end these relentless attacks on human rights.

IMRANA @IU_Wakilii REALLY NEEDS OUR PRAYERS.
Many of us initially believed that the allegations behind Imrana’s detention were limited solely to the issue of stolen vehicles. However, to the best of my knowledge, the matter appears to go beyond that.
Imrana’s car has been released. His brother has also been released. Yet Imrana remains in detention.
This raises a clear and important question. Why is Imrana still under detention, and what specific charges or additional allegations justify his continued detention?
URGENT PUBLIC STATEMENT ON THE DISAPPEARANCE OF IMRAN (@IU_WAKILII)
“Earlier today, police officers visited my house looking for me, but I was not at home. They informed those present that the matter was urgent and that I needed to report to them. I was busy at the time and could not go immediately.
After some time they left, and I assumed that was the end of it for the moment. Later, however, they returned, and the situation changed.
On their return, they arrested my younger brother and towed my car. They stated that I must present myself before they would release him. Their explanation was that the car I have been driving for over two years is allegedly stolen.
What makes this especially surprising is that my brother had already been using the same car for at least two to three years before I began driving it. This is not a vehicle either of us recently acquired. Yet I am now facing an allegation that has led to my younger brother’s arrest.
I am making this public because I am on my way to meet the police. I believe people should be aware of what is happening, especially since my brother has been detained over a matter they say concerns me.
I am going there to understand exactly what is going on and to learn the basis of the allegation.
For now, I do not want to speculate or make claims about things I do not yet know.
I will share further updates as events develop.
Thank you.
Signed: Imran U Wakili”

I’ve come to the conclusion that Kaduna is the perfect city for a man who is 60+, has made his money, married off all his children, and owns a beautiful house in Unguwan Rimi. 😂
I love the relatively few Keke Napep on the roads, how people respect traffic lights, and the general calmness of the city.
However, I think the government needs to do more to stimulate commercial activities and attract serious investors. Create an enabling environment for foreign investors, particularly Lebanese to establish quality restaurants, supermarkets, hospitals, hotels and other businesses.

Replying to @CaptJamyl
@CaptJamyl, I'm a little shy about putting this out here, but I thought I'd give it a try and take my chances.
I need business funds for my small business, but preferably through patronage. I'm a food vendor, and I need to acquire some essential equipment that would make my daily operations smoother, and help me grow my business.
I can't afford to get these items just yet, so I'm reaching out in the hope that i would be patronized.
It would mean a lot to me and my business. I'd be truly grateful.

The Nigerian Police reportedly went to the home of Twitter influencer @IU_Wakilii after failing to find him, arrested his brother instead and towed away his car.
What exactly is his brother’s offence? Why should an innocent family member be made to suffer for someone else’s alleged offence?
Liability is personal. You cannot arrest or detain someone simply because they are related to a person you are looking for. Arrest in lieu is illegal.
The Nigerian Police must respect the rule of law and stop using intimidation and unlawful detention against innocent family members.
At this point, one has to ask,is being in opposition now a criminal offence in Nigeria? Must anyone who disagrees with those in power be subjected to harassment, intimidation and persecution?
Since when did expressing dissent become a crime?
Allah ya fito da kai lafiya, ya kuma shiga tsakanin nagari da mugu. 🤲🏽

اللهم صل وسلم على نبينا محمد 🤲
