It’s been quite the journey to get here. Happy to report I have achieved Full Professor. Thanks to all my colleagues at ISU and other institutions, my advisors, friends and of course my family for their ongoing support! I truly couldn’t have achieved this without everyone.

Cigs beat 6 of the top 10 teams last year. Are we really still doing this?
Fun reminder that cig has faced 9 TOTAL ranked teams in his 3 years at IU. Pete Golding is facing his 9th ranked team in 11 games as a head coach in the SEC. Both including CFP.

Since the launch of the 12-team @CFBPlayoff model in 2024, only one team has been projected in the 12-team field in every preseason and final ranking. That team? @IndianaFootball

The premise that the SEC is on a different plane than the rest of college football is false and that is what people are pushing back against. Aside from a couple outliers, the conferences are almost identical (the ACC is measurably weaker) If you're Georgia or a team that doesn't play Georgia (Texas), your schedule is no different than a Big 10 or Big 12 schedule.
I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like the SEC doesn't get favoritism from the committee, it does in some ways. BUT, if you look at the facts, Indiana is one of the teams benefiting the most from the committee. Indiana has played 1 really good team, and they lost. Every other game has been against mediocre competition and they've struggled. I think that Indiana should get the benefit of the doubt because they just won the natty, and they are. But if it was Indiana had an SEC patch, there were would be no end of criticism for the committee "coddling" Indiana. The double standards are crazy.

This is a stretch.
If this is true, why would Sankey and the SEC provide a bailout to the B1G when Petitti pulled the rug on 16 after the SEC had voted to go to 9 games If a business negotiated in bad faith the aggrieved company wouldn’t throw them a line. Something does not add up.

Anyone outraged at Georgia's nonconference schedule (Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and a 2-6 Georgia Tech team) or is that just reserved for Indiana?

I've always said we should judge teams by the quality of who they've played, not where they sit in a poll. So I built a college basketball-style quintiles sheet for the first CFP top 25, showing record vs opponents based on quality bands in FEI. Best top-30 records: Kentucky (4-1) is best. Alabama (3-2), Texas (3-1), Ole Miss (3-1) and Oregon (3-1) come next. Thin top-30 records near the top: Miami is 1-0, Utah 1-0 and Notre Dame 1-1. Never beaten a top-30 team: Houston (0-2), Arizona (0-2) and Boise State (0-1). Losing records against the top 30: Tennessee (1-2), LSU (1-2) and Florida (2-3). While I struggle to understand Bama *that* high, this at least explains it a tad bit, if the CFP committee couldn't get past Bama's H2H win vs Kentucky. What are your thoughts?

We are hiring again! Producer Job Description: College Football with Sam About the channel and the role: College Football with Sam is a college football omnichannel creator. The creator’s goal is to be the largest and best college football-centered channel across major platforms. Coverage leans slightly toward the Big Ten, but the show is objective and non-tribal, and the goal is to cover every Power 4 conference. Through the lens of numbers, with entertainment mixed in, Sam delivers elite analysis. We have 38,000 subscribers on YouTube, and our main growth focus is currently there, X, and TikTok. We run live shows, weekly guest interviews, predictions and rankings, plus Shorts and clips across YouTube, X, and TikTok, and are looking to expand into Facebook and Instagram. The producer is Sam's second pair of hands on the live show and the person who turns each show into finished videos. You will run the live-show graphics and scenes, cut the segments afterward, and help organize the week so Sam can focus on hosting, research, and interviews. This is a remote, part-time contractor role with room to grow as the channel does. Schedule and hours: - Live shows: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 5:00 PM ET, around 120 minutes each. The start time can move by an hour in either direction depending on availability, but the days are firm and consistency matters. - After each show: Time to cut, hand off, and upload the segments immediately after the show so we can release some videos on the day of the show. - Hours: 10 to 20 hours a week, to be settled together once the shows are running. Live shows, splicing, and weekly planning make up the core. - Saturday: Sam publishes instant reaction videos on Saturdays and may add a live show on Saturday night. The producer will be consulted before that decision. - Location: Remote. You need a reliable computer and internet connection for the live show. Responsibilities Planning: - Help organize the week: the live-show and interview calendar, deadlines, and handoffs. - Work with Sam on pre-production planning, finding time for other tasks, and suggesting content ideas. - Keep a simple weekly log of what was published and what is still waiting. During live shows: - Run the show in OBS: scenes, overlays, and transitions. - Put the graphics the design team builds on screen at the right moment, with Sam's cues. - Note timestamps for key moments, guest segments, and the best clips. After each show: - Cut the show into standalone segments in CapCut, with captions where needed. - Export finished videos and hand them to Sam for title, thumbnail, and description approval, and coordinate the upload. - Flag moments that would work as Shorts or X clips for the clip team. Team coordination: - Become the day-to-day contact for the graphics, thumbnail, and clip contractors, so questions arrive in one place instead of many. - Not part of this role: hosting, final takes on predictions, interviews, and the final say on titles and thumbnails. Requirements: - Comfortable running a live stream in OBS (scenes, sources, audio) and editing in CapCut or other video editing software. - Reliable: you show up on time for every scheduled live show, and you give notice when you can't. - Good judgment about which moments matter in a sports show. - Clear, quick communication, and a habit of closing the loop on handoffs. - Able to take direction and work to a consistent style. Huge pluses: - Adobe Photoshop experience. - Knowledge of college football, especially the Power 4 leagues (Big Ten, SEC, ACC, and Big 12). - Experience producing a live show, podcast, or sports-media content, or being a student in a sports-media program. - Audio cleanup and captioning experience. Example of what the first 30 days could look like and how success is measured: - Week 1: sit in on the live shows, learn the OBS scenes and graphics, and get access to the editing files. - Week 2: splice real segments, with Sam reviewing each one. - Week 3: run the graphics in OBS during live shows with Sam watching, and start the weekly planning log. - Week 4: review together what worked, the hours it actually takes, and what to change. What we will look at: - Every scheduled live show happened on time. - Splices delivered within the agreed turnaround (target: immediately after). - Number of long-form videos published per week, which Sam wants to grow from about 27 toward 40 to 50. - How many hours Sam saves each week. Pay, trial, and how to apply: - Pay: At least $20 per hour with room for more depending on experience, paid for live-show time, editing, and planning alike. - Type: Independent contractor, remote, 10 to 20 hours a week. - Trial: The first 30 days are a paid trial. After that, we review the role, hours, and pay together. How to apply - Send a short note to my email, [email protected], explaining who you are, your editing and streaming experience, your availability for Sunday through Wednesday evenings, and one video or stream you made. - Finalists get a paid test task: edit one recorded live-show segment into a standalone video in CapCut, with captions and a title card, about an hour of work. It is paid, and it shows how you edit and follow a style. - A short call with Sam, who is looking for someone dependable and easy to work with.

A coach not blaming 9 conference games!
NEW: Georgia's Kirby Smart on players getting injured more in the SEC compared to previous years: "I don’t know that the players are any different. I think about the teams we had in 2021 and 2022, how physical they were and how they practiced. We can’t even get close to that now. Is it different culture that guys don’t want to as much? I don’t know. They were definitely hungrier, because there was a motivation to make it. A lot of these guys, honestly, they make more than I was making until I was 40. So it’s just a different day and age." (via @ugasportscom) on3.com/news/kirby-smart-on-…
