For any EDM fans that haven't heard, German "High Tech Minimal" house producer @BB_BORISBREJCHA is retiring from performance next year, so if you ever wanted to see him, now's the time! He's playing @rebel_toronto on Sat Feb 6. This is a fun song called "Never Look Back" (2019). If you're wondering, the Joker mask is his trademark, and like his music, his story is remarkable. Best wishes to him on the next chapter of his adventure. And as difficult as it sometimes can be, he's right: NEVER LOOK BACK! ๐Ÿ™โ˜ฎ ticketweb.ca/event/boris-breโ€ฆ

"Behold, the LAMB OF GOD"! This is excellent weed - big fat stinky resinous colas that gum up your grinder. It's also the first release in Ontario from HEADSTONE CANNAIBS (AB), who should be very proud! It's simple to say but not easy to deliver - these are stinky and stinky buds that burn well. Here's a bit about the growers from @StratCann: stratcann.com/profiles/headsโ€ฆ

One of my favourite LUMINEERS songs came to mind today; "Democracy" is a song by Leonard Cohen (1992), which appeared as a bonus track on their album III (2019). I wish our American friends & family all the best. Progress is always uneven but only possible thanks to DEMOCRACY! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Anyone using cannabis inhalers should be warned. Some like the Remidose product contain MCT oil, which is used as a carrier to deliver the cannabis molecules, but MCT oil is NOT meant for inhalation, as our lungs can't clear it. Cannabis aerosols containing MCT oil are banned in places like Colorado. The product in the study used liposomes instead, which I read are a special type of lipid (they bind to cannabinoids) that's compatible with our lungs. As an aside, IMO, @GovCanHealth should focus on these types of risks, not on how many logos appear on a pack of rollies, or if a jar is too brightly coloured.
Thereโ€™s also a thc version too

Happy Thanksgiving / Joyeuse Action de grรขce! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Today is a good day to share an inspiring piece from the @NewsHour, featuring beautiful Syrian-Dutch-US dancer, Ahmad Joudeh, who offers a bit about his extraordinary life experience and the wisdom it's given him. โคโ˜ฎ "I don't think anyone in the world who feels loved would hurt anybody else. I chopped my cute little house plants today! Can't really call it a "harvest" but these plants were easy & fun to grow on my balcony. Next year I'll try photo period fems and will top them so I don't end up with stick plants again! The buds smell like candy (Gelato Biscotti). ๐Ÿ˜›

[1/3] I had an amazing time seeing THE GORILLAZ in Toronto on Sunday! They gave us and Montreal *incredible* shows with surprise performances from many of their collaborators, past & present. The first clip features Jamaican dancehall superstar POPCAAN in one of my favs, "Saturn Barz" (2017), followed by "Garage Palace" (2017) with UK rapper LITTLE SIMZ, and one of their most famous songs, "Dirty Harry" (2005) with US rapper BOOTIE BROWN (The Pharcyde).

[2/3] I'm posting a couple of extra clips from the GORILLAZ concert for the sake of posterity and for my own benefit when I look back later! Keep scrolling if this isn't your jam but if you're curious, I think the music is incredible. These clips are 2 of their most famous songs - "Feel Good" with POSDNUOS (Del la Soul) and "Clint Eastwood" with DEL THE FUNKY HOMOSAPIEN. The picture was taken at curtain call (checkout the lineup!), and I think that's Jamie Hewlett next to Damon (we don't see him often). The last clip is a fun one of what I call my "brushes with greatness". My sincere thanks to the band and venue for a truly unforgettable show! ๐Ÿ™ I can't wait to see them again. โคโ˜ฎ

[3/3] In case it's of interest, The @gorillaz are touring their new album, "The Mountain", which in part features heavy themes of death and loss. I read that the record was produced not too long after lead singer Damon Albarn and band co-founder Jamie Hewlett both lost their Dads, which brought them to India where they were inspired to create the new album. Jamie Hewlett told Rolling Stone magazine that "The Mountain is a metaphor for life. The bottom of the mountain is vast, with many green jungles and many paths, many opportunities, and the higher you climb, the more narrow it becomes. And if you make it to the top of the mountain, what is beyond that? And that is essentially reincarnationโ€. Jamie also explained one of his intentions behind the record: "if we can make an album about death that makes people feel less afraid of the concept of it, wouldnโ€™t that be an amazing gift?โ€. Like all their music, the new GORILLAZ album is all about collaborations with artists famous in their own right, this time many with an Indian background, including singer Asha Puthli (age 81!), classical flutist Ajay Prasanna, and sitar player Anoushka Shankar, but also involving many others from different backgrounds, like singer Omar Souleyman from Syria, American vocalist & poet Kara Jackson, and with vocals posthumously from Nigerian-born Tony Allen. Well known British songwriter-guitarist Johnny Marr (The Smiths) is also involved in a couple of the new songs. The never-ending lineup of talent makes THE GORILLAZ the biggest "super band" in history! It's no wonder the music is incredible given all those involved (although Damon and Jamie are the glue). If you're a fan, here's a good Youtube link to a festival concert they played this past summer. โœŒโ˜ฎ youtube.com/watch?v=94oEew1kโ€ฆ

This weekend's TINLICKER ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ concerts were amazing! The first night was me & my partner at a cozy table upstairs, and the second was a party on the floor with friends! Thanks to the band and to @Drake and @LiveNation for creating @HistoryToronto and hosting so many fun memories! This is "Rebirth" (2022), which has a close connection to Toronto where the video was filmed & produced. There are glimpses of the city and LAKE ONTARIO ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ, while the diner scene was filmed at Chew Chew's (only two doors down from my store!), and the closing scene at historic Union Station. It's a beautiful song and it offers some good advice: "keep falling in love"! โคโ˜ฎ

HAPPY FRIDAY and a big welcome to one of my favourite bands, @tinlicker_nl! Looking forward to seeing them tonight AND tomorrow night at @HistoryToronto . Give them a listen if you like EDM/ progressive house. This is a brilliant show they did at the Gashouder in Amsterdam, 2024. youtube.com/watch?v=BOuFDzZ4โ€ฆ

Everyone remembers where they were when 9/11 happened. In Toronto, as in NYC, the sky was a perfect blue colour. Iโ€™ll never forget that day and those dark days that followed. @PBS' Judy Woodruff offers a thoughtful segment for todayโ€™s 25โ€™th anniversary. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ pbs.org/newshour/show/the-laโ€ฆ

I had an amazing time last night with a group of friends seeing MELANIE C (Sporty Spice) at the Phoenix! She's been a big deal in the queer community for decades, where her music & strong female persona are beloved. Mel's touring her new album, SWEAT, which has some great songs. The first clip is one of those, "Drum Machine" (2026), and the other is of her big hit, "I Turn to You" (2000), remixed famously by Hex Hector and since immoratalized in every queer club around the world, where it's played all the time and will be for generations. Thanks MEL C and band - you rock! โค

I hope everyone had an amazing long weekend! My highlight was seeing RUFUS du SOL at the Skydome in Toronto, where they put on a great show! The band gave us the honour of being the last stop on their record breaking tour, "Inhale/ Exhale". Video clip: "In the Moment" (2024). โ˜ฎ๏ธ

My belated thanks to Australian EDM band EMPIRE OF THE SUN for visiting Toronto and playing what was one of my most enjoyable concert experiences so far. The vibe was youthful, energetic, and especially joyful, and I loved every minute of it! ๐Ÿ™โ˜ฎ๏ธ Memento clips are of a few favs - "Awakening" (2013), "Two Vines" (2016), and "Music on the Radio" (2024). The last song features the ultra cool alien dancing creatures, SUPA CHAI and PONCHAI. ๐Ÿคฃ

I grew up listening to legendary rocker JOHN FOGERTY on Q107 radio, so it was a priviledge to see him last night at the Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto. At 81, he can still belt 'em out and play a wicked gui-tar, now alongside his two boys, both very talented musicians.โ˜ฎ๏ธ

I'm still loving BLACK ZOAP from Rubicon! For a time, they're offering "smalls" under their value brand, Homestead, which is IMHO one of the best buys available in Ontario. I'll have to try hard not to keep this one all to myself! ๐Ÿ˜ HAPPY SUNDAY! โœŒ๏ธ
Congratulations to @RubiconOrganics for their continued growth and commitment to quality! BLACK ZOAP is interesting and delicious (soapiness comes through). In my experience, soapy cultivars aren't common, but @SimplyBareOrgnc does a great job with this one, grown in living soil.
