Grrrrrr!
This handmaiden to the HAMAS-Huggers gets to stay in the mayor’s chair. 😡😡😡
I think all her lies towards the end of the campaign swung the undecided to her 😡😖😡
As a woman in Toronto, I want a mayor who will stand up for the rights of women.
I do not want a coward who will happily don a symbol of oppression of women just to win some votes with a particular community.
Shame on you Olivia Chow!

History and more tell there is a place for hate. And the more vociferously you speak the truth, the more invective and hate appears.

We get the gov't we deserve.
I got fewer votes than a candidate who withdrew weeks ago.
I opened my campaign with this graph, and thoughtfully gave my diagnosis and potential cures for declining achievement.
But maybe people like this, and that's why they voted for more of it.

Campaign critiques of me and Cristina cited our concerns about sexually explicit material in schools. Union-backed candidates support (or at least won't debate) such material.
So, have voters intentionally chosen to continue exposing children to this content?
Unlikely.

@wrdsb: Is this what you consider education?
Parents: Is this what you picture when you send your kids to school?
Do you consent to this being treated as education?
If not, you may want to start saying so.
🕯️To say nothing is acquiescence.

2/9 Courage Is A Habit describes an exchange about a hypothetical boy who declines to use male pronouns for female classmates.
According to the post, the response included calling him an “asshole,” criticising his parent, and invoking school policy.

3/9 The unanswered question: why does declining those pronouns, by itself, constitute mistreatment?
Calling compliance courteous does not answer someone who understands pronouns as referring to biological sex and considers the substitution inaccurate.

9/9 A school claiming to teach inclusion should explain how it accommodates a student who disagrees.
Parents deserve an answer more substantial than an accusation.

8/9 People remain free to find your position offensive and criticise it. Their offence does not settle the argument or justify intimidation, physical aggression, or an automatic demand for punishment.
The conduct needs examining, whoever is responsible.

7/9 Being called a bigot hurts. The temptation is to explain yourself endlessly or concede to escape the accusation.
Pause. Examine what you actually said and did. Correct genuine mistreatment. Ask what wrongdoing is alleged beyond the fact that you disagree.

6/9 Parents should ask what conduct triggers consequences, and what those consequences are.
Threatening a classmate, persistently humiliating someone, and declining a requested pronoun are different actions. An anti-bullying label does not establish their equivalence.

5/9 Watch how the pressure works: compliance is described as kindness and inclusion. Refusal becomes a character defect. Comparisons with abuse raise the stakes. School policy introduces possible punishment.
The underlying disagreement remains unanswered.

4/9 We already live alongside people whose beliefs we do not share. My neighbour can celebrate Christmas as Christ’s birthday without requiring me to profess Christianity.
Why should respecting someone require adopting their understanding of gender?

1/9 You ask a question and get called cruel, bigoted, or a terrible parent. Suddenly, you are defending your character instead of discussing the issue.

Muslim community leader brags that Alvin Tedjo's unexpected win in Mississauga can be credited to his statement against Islamophobia and the genocide in Gaza.
Takeaways are two-fold.
1. Our municipal elections are being hijacked by ethnic voting blocs to focus foreign issues that have nothing to do with local government.
2. This is the sort of impact an organized community can make in elections with only 17% of the electorate.
Imagine the impact Canadians can have if we just take our own side.
