Latest example of @HMRCgovuk bullying of people facing the #LoanCharge: We’ve had multiple reports of #HMRC phoning people demanding they call back by 5pm to arrange a time-to-pay or enforcement action will begin. This is misconduct & people should complain.

The #LoanCharge has been a profound failure. As well as 11 suicides it has cost £186 million since it came into force in 2019. In that time HMRC only achieved 800 settlements with individuals totalling £44m. We’ve written to @CommonsPAC urging an inquiry.

Read this twice "There are [have been] NO convictions of loan scheme promoters".
I.E. the organisations who are known to have made billions by mis-selling payroll schemes to real workers, while HMRC watched silently until many years later trying to ruin those same workers
Finally we have some honesty from @hmtreasury. There are NO convictions of loan scheme promoters. So the reality is that @HMRCgovuk are simply going after individuals & demanding unpayable sums with no appeal leading to bankruptcies, breakdowns & suicides. #LoanChargeScandal

Maybe something could be implemented retrospectively 🤔 and one day all those who’ve suffered will get justice and those responsible for the suicides of the #loancharge victims will be held accountable.
Please support this important initiative. The changes being lobbied for include holding civil servants to account for their decisions. The #loancharges would not have happened if this had been enacted in law. Those responsible would have feared prosecution. @loanchargeAPPG

Thank you. In terms of the internal "Loan Charge Review" paper it is claimed that so far 85% of "loan charge" claims have successfully been recouped from Employers. Given the inaccuracy around promoters, can we ask that @HMRCgovuk provide backing data to validate the 85% claim?
