The Indian startup and VC ecosystem would have looked very different without Flipkart’s massive success. As he rightly says, founders are the real heroes, yet Subrata deserves his success for silently backing this ecosystem and hitting home runs across decades, Myntra, Cult, Tracxn, Moglix, and more. Subrata is a pure seed investor at heart. And he’s a legend. Moneyview is his 10th unicorn, almost all Seed Checks (started w Seed in Flipkart). He rarely does podcasts, so good day to share few gems (many counter intuitive!) from his 15 years+ as Seed VC that I am trying to follow:
1. There are 100 reasons to pass on a company. Keep digging for the 1 reason to invest at Seed Stage.
2. Don't take yourself too seriously. Stay a little foolish.
3. Hierarchy kills creativity. Stay weird.
4. Most important thing is to have fun in the journey.
5. The main character of this game is Founder, not the VC.
