"against a Budget of 1.5m" wasn't the whole point of trying to replace us to save money? Lmaoooo eat shit, for that price you could have paid a crew and made a film with maybe a bit of actual soul in it

China’s first AI-generated theatrical film, ‘Sanxingdui: Future Past’, has bombed at their domestic box office, only making $121,000 USD against a budget of $1.5M USD. In contrast, the crudely animated ‘Niu Lai’ made nearly $10M USD against a budget of $200-500 USD.

Just found out out I'm speechless. Bauza was the nicest guy... Never acted the big guy around crew even on the smallest productions, dude would show up at muppets just for a bootstrap pizza party, zero ego and so genuine. Didn't know him well but truly shocked to hear this

I made an animated horror short! It's called Monitor. I did everything myself (except the awesome music and sound). No AI. Hope you enjoy!

people seriously complaining about a fairytale retelling not being a 1 for 1 of the original that you've already seen 100 times like "how dare you feed me something new, I want dino nugget and kraft mac every day until I die" how did you all make it to adulthood 😭

look I hope this does well, this deco/scifi look reads super y2k coded to me (very "new tomorrowland") but there's a charm to sticking to that vision after so many years, but ngl it feels like the leads are kinda cardboard-cutout noir archetypes w/o distinct personalities...

we have "femme fatale in a red dress" and "1950's b/w detective with snappy dialogue" Ray in particular, tbh his lines felt so hammy, it even feels like the trailer was cut specifically to hide this aspect...makes me a little worried idk, will happily eat crow if I'm wrong!

Thinking about the similar focus on textiles in OoT and Steps (animated film also coming out in Nov) A cool creative overlap and (whether a conscious choice or not) at least partially born of backlash against ai, people craving art that feels genuinely crafted by human hands

(Yes I worked on Steps haha, just for a bit! Please check it out when it comes out!) Not saying both projects had the exact same design inspirations, but any creatives working during societal/political trends will be affected by the environment that they're in...

So it's just interesting to see this coincidental through line for two completely different projects with only one significant similarity: developed around the same time, developed by humans in the age of slop.
