What this witch wished for actually happened in China—especially during Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
Red Guards dug up the graves of people labeled enemies of the state and desecrated their remains.
They attacked the tomb of Confucius and dug up thousands of graves belonging to his descendants. Corpses were pulled from coffins, stripped, displayed publicly, and eventually burned or discarded.
They also desecrated the Soong family cemetery and exhumed the remains of Soong Ching-ling’s parents. Soong Ching-ling was the widow of Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China; her sister Soong Mei-ling was the wife of Chiang Kai-shek, who led the Republic of China for much of its history.
And this happened in other Communist countries as well.
Their hatred did not even spare the dead. Modern-day American Communists are no different.

I agree with this very much. Spock humanized what had been previously characterized as inhuman. And instead of writing him as a force for darkness, Spock became the beacon of rational stability. With a tragic edge, because his logic also compelled him into dilemmas of the soul.

Yes, but (as a SF fan old enough to remember) all the previous iterations of the cold, emotionless, scientific character were mad scientists, Martians, evil robots and the like.
Spock, like the Shadow, like Zorro, like the Lone Ranger is a hero who dresses and acts and looks like a bad guy -- Spock from planet "Vulcan" i.e. hell, is meant to look like a devil, so that his inhuman nature is emphasized.
By making him half-human, they gave him a promethean suffering all the audience could understand, which is why he is the only Vulcan in so many years of Trek that anyone remembers.
