So speaking of 25 years - can anyone tell us if they have gotten around to searching Zacharias Moussaoui's laptop yet?

Lord, have mercy... "But all the blasphemous stuff is just a joke!" Here's what CS Lewis wisely observed about that via the demon Screwtape: "Cruelty is shameful — unless the cruel man can represent it as a practical joke. A thousand bawdy, or even blasphemous, jokes do not help towards a man's damnation so much as his discovery that almost anything he wants to do can be done, not only without the disapproval but with the admiration of his fellows, if only it can get itself treated as a Joke."

And there I was thinking I did not need to know anything else about 9/11/01 - great story. Just regular Americans doing what needed to be done.

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States..." Sorry Mr. President. Time to get your supporters in Congress to do some work.

"There is nothing authentic about Harris, not even her DNA, so she could be viewed as the logical end point of a process that has sought to strip all reality from politics and replace it with emotive narratives" - excellent.

#OnThisDay 1816 a combined @royalnavy & @kon_marine Fleet under Admiral Edward Pellew & Vice Adm. Theodorus van Capellen, bombarded the African port of Algiers to enforce the abolition of Christian slavery. The ferocious battle was a success freeing 3000 Christian slaves.

Is there in fact a rule against kicking your opponent in the gonads in female boxing matches?

🎉🌼🌸April Fools! 🌸🌼🎉 Only kidding. Obviously, the people mentioned in the above tweets aren't women at all, but men, every last one of them. In passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act, Scottish lawmakers seem to have placed higher value on the feelings of men performing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the rights and freedoms of actual women and girls. The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women's and girls’ single-sex spaces, the nonsense made of crime data if violent and sexual assaults committed by men are recorded as female crimes, the grotesque unfairness of allowing males to compete in female sports, the injustice of women’s jobs, honours and opportunities being taken by trans-identified men, and the reality and immutability of biological sex. For several years now, Scottish women have been pressured by their government and members of the police force to deny the evidence of their eyes and ears, repudiate biological facts and embrace a neo-religious concept of gender that is unprovable and untestable. The re-definition of 'woman' to include every man who declares himself one has already had serious consequences for women's and girls’ rights and safety in Scotland, with the strongest impact felt, as ever, by the most vulnerable, including female prisoners and rape survivors. It is impossible to accurately describe or tackle the reality of violence and sexual violence committed against women and girls, or address the current assault on women’s and girls’ rights, unless we are allowed to call a man a man. Freedom of speech and belief are at an end in Scotland if the accurate description of biological sex is deemed criminal. I'm currently out of the country, but if what I've written here qualifies as an offence under the terms of the new act, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the birthplace of the Scottish Enlightenment. If you agree with the views set out in this tweet, please retweet it. #ArrestMe #AprilFools #HateCrimeActScotland 11/X

One of the queerest things about our own topsy-turvy time is that we all hear such a vast amount about Christmas just before it comes, and suddenly hear nothing at all about it afterwards.

Tuesday energy— “Magnanimity, a much-forgotten virtue, is the aspiration of the spirit to great things … A person is magnanimous if he has the courage to seek what is great and becomes worthy of it … Magnanimity, as both Thomas and Aristotle tell us, is 'the jewel of all the virtues,' since it always—and particularly in ethical matters—decides in favor of what is, at any given moment, the greater possibility of the human potentiality for being.” - Josef Pieper

After listening to all the Georgia Trump vote fraud stuff it occurs to me: did anyone ever really prove that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor? Not a single court ever ruled on this.....

Maybe we deport anyone caught with narcotics to Ecuador and give their home to Ecuadorian refugees fleeing from narco violence? Seems like a win-win. Cocaine hobbyists get to be closer to their beloved drug source and we get people who will not be stoned all the time.
