Johnny Washington brings nearly two decades of coaching experience to the Mets, with stops in the Dodgers, Padres, Cubs, Angels and Braves organizations.
He also reunites with Mets manager Andy Green, whom he previously worked alongside in San Diego and Chicago. A familiar connection with an extensive player development background.

5⭐️ Malachi Jordan has COMMITTED to St. John’s!!
The 24th-ranked recruit in the country brings gifted athleticism and an ELITE ability to get downhill.
An Aaron Gordon archetype with ELITE potential if he can develop a consistent outside shot. Jordan has shown a desire to improve, and there isn’t a better coach to help him do that than Rick Pitino.

The New York Mets are hiring former MLB catcher A.J. Ellis as their new major league strategy coordinator, per Will Sammon of The Athletic.
Ellis brings much more than 11 seasons of MLB playing experience. Since retiring in 2018, he has spent nearly eight years with the San Diego Padres in baseball operations, most recently working closely with the major league coaching staff on strategy, player development, and communication between the front office and clubhouse.
A longtime trusted catcher of Clayton Kershaw, Ellis has built a strong reputation for his baseball knowledge, game preparation, and ability to work with pitchers.
Another experienced baseball mind joins the Mets’ revamped coaching staff.

“All I’m going to do is get you to reach your potential. You will become a man. You will not be afraid of adversity. You’ll look it straight in the eye, and you’ll handle it.”
Rick Pitino’s message resonated with Malachi Jordan. It was more than just a recruiting pitch; it was a vision for the person and player he could become. Ultimately, it was a major reason he chose St. John’s.

The Mets have claimed 24-year-old infielder Kyren Paris off waivers from the Angels.
Paris put together a strong 2026 season at Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting .274 with 13 home runs, 62 RBIs, 24 stolen bases and an .842 OPS.
A former second-round pick and once highly regarded prospect in the Angels’ system, Paris offers an intriguing combination of speed, athleticism and defensive versatility.
This could be a low-risk, high-reward pickup for the Mets. Paris will have an opportunity to compete for a roster spot during spring training.
What do we think of the move? 👀
