My Dad used to love telling a story about meeting Jay back when he was governor, at some local govt function or fundraiser at Waldomore, the old Goff family mansion behind the Clarksburg library. (A fitting venue for a Rockefeller in WV, if ever there was one.) As the governor made his rounds, Dad extended his hand. “Francis Warder. Nice to meet you, Governor.” Rockefeller smiled. “That's a good name,” alluding to my grandfather (also Francis) who was a prominent local judge. Dad didn't miss a beat. “Wanna trade?”
When Jay Rockefeller came to West Virginia back in the early 1960s, we were so excited and starstruck because we knew his incredible family legacy. We knew he could have gone anywhere in the world, but he chose to come to West Virginia, and most importantly, he chose to call West Virginia home. He adopted us and we adopted him as a true West Virginian. I looked up to Jay as a mentor and as a friend. When I ran for my first full term in the U.S. Senate in 2012, Jay was on the front lines and helped me every step of the way. He showed me how to be an effective U.S. Senator and best represent our state. He couldn’t have been a better mentor or tutor. We are forever grateful for Jay’s service to our state, his compassion, and his love for the people of West Virginia. He’s helped so many people, and for that, I will forever be grateful. Please join Gayle and me in praying for his wife, Sharon, his children, grandchildren, and our entire state as we mourn the loss of my friend and a truly legendary West Virginian, John D. Rockefeller IV.

Tripled position in $METC today sub-$6. It’s now a core position, average cost of around $6.50 per share. Price action is so stupid I sold some puts as well so bring it on, shorts. #CoalTwitter

Been about a decade but I vaguely remember some discussions of how my Republican friends told me that “a Senate majority” during a lame duck Presidency is grounds enough to stonewall any SCOTUS nominees because… “The American people should have a say”. LOLOL.
Replying to @politico
When Justice Antonin Scalia died in 2016, President Obama turned to Garland for what he hoped would be a consensus pick. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell denied Garland a hearing or a vote, leaving the nomination hanging for nearly a year. politi.co/35xoo4T

There are much bigger things happening *just in macro* right now than this election.
I don’t know if this is consensus or not yet but midterms aren’t that big of a deal and won’t matter that much for the stock market outside of basically this week.

False.
I find it significant that the most AI-pilled people I know use AI for basically everything…except for writing It’s remarkably consistent. Why? Because to write is to think. And outsourcing your critical thinking to AI is intellectual suicide

“It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.” - A. Bart Giamatti, “The Green Fields of the Mind” Condolences to my friends in Tampa…but this year the universe needed one for the Ueck. Spring Training begins in 113 days, 50 minutes, 15 hours and 25 seconds…
