Can we PLEASE stop pretending this is normal?
@Dylanlarkin39 has been the face of the @DetroitRedWings for years. The captain.
The guy this franchise built its rebuild narrative around.
And right now?
He's a walking distraction that's dragging the whole room down with him.
Nobody outside that locker room knows exactly what's going on and that's part of the problem. When the story keeps changing, when nobody will just say what happened, fans start filling in the blanks themselves.
That's what happens when an organization lets a situation fester instead of dealing with it head-on.
Here's the thing: hockey is a business. Loyalty is nice. Legacy is nice.
But at some point you have to ask is this player, this situation, this ongoing soap opera actually helping the team win? Or is it sucking the oxygen out of a locker room that's supposed to be focused on getting back into the playoff picture?
If Larkin can't be the guy this team needs him to be on the ice and off it then it's time to stop tiptoeing around it and make the move.
Rip the band-aid off.
Get a package back.
Let the locker room reset and move forward without the cloud hanging over it.
Time to bounce!!!
