Back with some writing and just published my first piece for the @midpostpod Substack!
I dropped a few on @hip2dagames last year but have a fresh page for TMP. I don't have a set schedule but try to write when I see fit. Always appreciate any reads 🙏🏽

Looking back at Brandon Miller's shots from last night vs. BKN. 12 first quarter points but finished with 18 on 7-21. 14 of those FGAs were threes.
I mentioned on the pod how important it is for him to get to the FT line if he truly wants to take the leap as an All-Star scorer
Overall, the Thunder dominated early, definitely making a statement that when healthy, they are still the team to beat. SGA and McCain were in midseason form. JDub can still play better. Threes were falling. They can still be even better! Rough night for Spurs but good fight
3) Did the Spurs Stay Locked In?
YES ✅ I'll give it to the Spurs. They put up a good fight even down as many as 26 points. Wemby got to the line and was great defensively despite a terrible shooting night. Team showed heart but just couldn't make enough plays.
2) Did the Spurs Stick To What They Do Best?
NO ❌ There wasn't much that worked! Bad shooting night + Vassell at the 4 vs OKC was not good. Fox did well going downhill and played a pretty clean game, Castle made threes, Wemby got to the line, but not much outside of those.
1) Did the Spurs Protect the Pill?
YES ✅ and NO ❌ They tied their turnovers with their season average last season (27th in league), so they did okay if we're going off that. However, there were moments they beat themselves with offensive fouls & bad passes.
2) Did the Thunder Share the Wealth? +
3) Did the Thunder Help SGA?
YES ✅✅ Only 4 players in double figures and 22 total assists, but all 11 rotation players scored. Team impact was there on both ends, even if small. 116 Points and STILL beat the Spurs. Good game from McCain!
Keys To The Game review for Thunder vs. Spurs:
1) Did the Thunder Force Turnovers?
NO ❌ Not by their standards at least! (8 steals < 9.7 avg last year / 13 TOs for Spurs = 13.5 avg last year), but the turnovers they did force disrupted the Spurs rhythm at times.
Overall, this was yet another old school battle. Bad shooting and good defensive displays from both teams. Knicks played a good 1st half and still were only up a few points at the half. But 76ers stayed the course and it paid off. Knicks lost what worked for them in 1st half
3) Did the Knicks Protect the Pill + Get Back?
YES ✅ and NO ❌ 1st half transition defense was great. Knicks focused on taking away home run plays. But it crumbled as they missed shots late. They also had 14 turnovers compared to Knicks' 10. Saw it the most late in the 4th
2) Did the Knicks Guard Their Man?
YES ✅ To face a team as talented as the 76ers, it was a good defensive effort from the Knicks for the most part. But again, they lost down the stretch when their defense wasn't able to get set after consecutive misses on offense.
1) Did the Knicks Win the Rebound Battle?
YES ✅ Knicks outrebounded 76ers 53-45. Drummond/KAT effort was great. But as mentioned on the show, it never helps when shots don't fall alongside the effort on the glass.
3) Did the 76ers Make Open Threes?
NO ❌ 11-40 (27%) from deep. Some good looks that didn't fall, some tougher ones. 76ers 3PT worries were confirmed. But a positive sign moving forward that they were still able to win a game shooting that bad. Got lucky Knicks were also bad
2) Did the 76ers Get Defensive Rebounds?
YES ✅ and NO ❌ They tied the DREB battle at 39. In that regard, they get a pass. HOWEVER, Knicks still got 8 more OREBs, & there was a noticeable impact, more so in the 1st half. Hard to maintain with limited bigman depth
Keys To The Game review for Sixers vs. Knicks:
1) Did the 76ers Take Smart Shots?
YES ✅ Wasn't too upset with the shot selection. There were definitely some (non) heat checks at times from different guys but I also thought they got good looks, many of them just didn't fall
