From the desk of Mindinterface Asset Management -- Who is the Beethoven of consumer hardware? The Vermeer of cloud computing? The Rimbaud of enterprise SaaS? This examines whether or not mature companies can be considered to have a 'late style', and what that might look like mindinterface.net/filings/la…

The year is 2029. You’ve long been laid off from your Product Marketing Manager role at a healthcare AI startup, but due to your proximity to the tech sector you were graciously offered a contract job to train LLMs on the final frontier - taste. Your job is to sort old songs, obscure Japanese movies, Tumblr edits, aesthetic Instagram posts, and so on into a 4-quadrant plane to determine how much of a “vibe” each item is. You listen to a 30 second clip of what you believe to be some good old-fashioned 1977 funk and soul, and you tag it as “romantic and warm with an intangible emotional gravitas - post-breakup and pre-iPhone vibes”. But to your surprise this was actually a song released by a Brooklyn soul revival band in 2015. You should have caught this due to the lack of graininess in the audio. Unfortunately you didn’t, so that’s another ding on your Curator Profile. You’re really embarrassed by this mistake so you reach for your phone. All you have to do is lift up your hand and the phone’s embedded sensor makes it fly right over. You put in 20 cents to watch 5 minutes of Metagram Reels and sneak in a couple from the Blend with your situationship. He designs brain-computer interfaces to streamline online shopping experiences and is, himself, in another situationship with his personal assistant AI. That’s okay though - the AI doesn’t love him like you do. You turn back to your computer and the next item in the queue is a small blue and green knit sweater dotted with a bunch of fluffy sheep. You remember it as a sweater you had when you were little. You wore it for a couple winters but stopped when you were 11 because it was “for kids”. You close your eyes and try to bring up the feeling it evokes: a wet smell, a winter wood cabin; little hairs brushing against your itchy face. When you open them again you see only the burn of the blue light on your screen. With a slight sigh, you click and drag it right in the middle of two axes: Cozy, A Vibe.

They say that the incoming superabundance of ideas in this world will make human ideas entirely pointless. Yet in the grocery store, the superabundance of cereals makes you appreciate Honey Nut Cheerios that much more.

He caught my eye when I saw his tastefully executed tight-lipped smile in his LinkedIn profile picture. His bio said only “Private Equity” - I wondered what that meant. But it wasn’t until I got to “Harvard University - Investment Club President” did I realize he was my soul mate
