In fact, net of China, the percentage contribution of the BRICS nations to the global GDP has come down, rather than gone up.
Even adding all the other countries which have joined since, China alone accounts for over 60% of the combined GDP.
As I wrote in my Mint column a few months ago, China is not competing with the likes of India. It considers only one country competition - the United States of America.
