(she/her) Middle-aged fangirling about mostly Korean dramas and film. Also US politics and assorted intemperate outbursts. Probably food, too.

The most dangerous time in an abusive relationship is when the abused partner tries to leave. We’re ecstatic *and* our head is on a swivel.

Texas will now have a State Comptroller who spent the 80s doing theatre in New York with David Mamet, a State Attorney General who composed soundtracks for Dragon Ball Z and a US Congressman who is a famed Tejano musician. What other trivia we got?

abolition means tearing down systems that surveil and cage and kill people, and currently that means ICE detention, mass surveillance, federal agencies turned against protesters and opponents -- holding the people who ran them ACCOUNTABLE is part of taking the machinery apart

A 10-year old boy wrote Virginia Foxx a letter as part of a school project. He had to write a persuasive essay and he chose tax credits for electric vehicles. The congresswoman responded by ripping him & his teacher. Last night, voters retired Rep. Foxx.

I get really irritated by a lot of the recent coverage of the U.S. Senate race down here because none of you actually covered what happened this year. We tried to get you all to cover what we were doing. We begged the press - the Louisiana political press - to cover the Democratic side this year and time and time again, y'all essentially said that it didn't matter because we weren't going to be competitive anyways. And now that we are, y'all are taking every opportunity to accept those national cable TV interviews to try to explain what's happening down here without having ever actually checked in with the folks on the ground who have been making this happen. This isn't a fluke. It didn't happen overnight. We're not simply riding a wave. We have been working our asses off all year - the candidates, the organizers, the volunteers, the individual donors, the party staff, the DPECs, the faith leaders, the civic groups - to make this possible. To diminish that work and the strategy that guided it to "Well, Jim, we're seeing this kind of thing happen everywhere" on CNN or Fox is insulting. This was EARNED. We didn't fall ass backwards into this. And I PRAY that when it's all said and done, no matter what happens tonight, the Louisiana political press and historians commit to actually telling the real story of the 2026 election here in Louisiana because it's worth telling and the people who shaped it are worth celebrating. Now, let's go bring this home. #GeauxVote

One of my favorite clients is an Enlightened Mayor of a small Midwestern city. He’s battling for reduced parking so urban infill can pencil. When people worry the walk from street parking or off-site lot will feel too far, he overlays a Walmart site plan on the project. The distance from the unit to the off-site parking is shorter than the walk from the Walmart checkout to a mid-lot parking space. And that perspective is very powerful for people to see. Visuals are important!!

Yes. Cities need to be brave and just start pushing car-light neighborhoods and make it easy to build small mixed-use apartment buildings, the time-tested path to walkability

My main advice to the right tonight is to keep talking like this. It's working really well, everybody loves it, and no one is tired of it. You could keep at it for another decade even.
Texas just gave a Senate seat to a sexually ambiguous anti-meat communist who needs 14 days of solitude to recover from a sniffle Pretty much sums up the whole night

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with @ezraklein where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain." Not a day has gone by for the last month where I haven't thought about that line and, increasingly, I see it as a skeleton key to a politics that many people are desperate for
