Nobody questions whether men should be allowed to fly. But let a woman who wasn’t even piloting scream in an emergency, and suddenly she’s evidence that women shouldn’t be pilots. A man’s failure is an individual tragedy. A woman’s fear becomes an indictment of her entire gender.
