As a former trainee in the Therapeutics for Rare & Neglected Diseases program @ncats_nih_gov, I find it endlessly cool to see #RareDiseaseDay lighting up the Chicago skyline.
My first first-author paper is up online! It features 103 compounds, six tables of data, some colorful docking poses, and contributions from a great team of chemists and biologists.

Throwback to 2016 when @NIHDirector came to @NUFeinbergMed and graciously took a few minutes for a photo with some aspiring physician-scientists. Here’s hoping for a career even half as impactful as his!
As someone who’s frequently bowled over by migraines and about as frequently wonders about being seen as weak or unreliable for it, I really enjoyed this @NatureFutures piece by @BethCato. Definitely struck a nerve! (not the trigeminal)

Accidentally made something VERY purple. Nice change of pace from the usual off-white solids. #realtimechem
Made something orange, labeled the flask accordingly. Go #Illini! #RealTimeChem
Some quality sportswriting from the brother: "Loneliness is a façade. The people who care may not be right there in person, but they are there for you, I promise. Just look. If you still can’t find them, look harder."
Hey everybody, welcome to my world. Hope you've enjoyed yourself over the last 8ish months.

Now here's a perspective on diversity and inclusion in organic chem that is very much worth a read. Or two. Too many excellent quotes to highlight just one.

Putting a little light on your feed this fine Friday morning. Sunrise over Lake Michigan from the @NorthwesternU campus

Passed my qualifying exam via Zoom today while wearing my best sweatpants-and-blazer combo. Pictured: the good luck flowers my parents had (contactlessly) delivered to my door this morning.
Got in one last quick neuro lesson at Union Station on my way home for Thanksgiving. There's no escaping @NorthwesternMed!
Rookie chemist mistake of the day: looking into how best to free-base a hydrochloride salt to use in a reaction and accidentally wound up in some internet forum for recreational users of illicit psychedelic drugs... #oops
Can't stop laughing at this. Life imitates art even at the molecular level, I guess.
Pyruvate dehydrogenase converts pyruvate, which the body derives from food, to acetyl-CoA, a fuel that cells can “burn” in the citric acid cycle. But when animated, Twitter user @SaHreports points out, it looks like a cartoon bar fight. #cenchempics ow.ly/cI8L50vfD09
