Fascinating video about the efficacy of universal basic income.
What if we could end poverty by just … giving people the money necessary to lift them out of it? That idea has had bipartisan appeal in recent years. But, as our new video explains, a recent experiment showed … it doesn’t quite work out as planned.

Really well done. I do wish it could have done more to communicate that things could be different--that Congress has had turnarounds before and can again.
Americans love to complain about Congress: It’s too slow. Members can’t agree on anything. They’re out of touch. But, as our new video explains, there’s a bigger problem: America’s Founders gave Congress a lot of power ... and Congress doesn’t seem to want it.

Please watch this regarding Fentanyl.
Why did America’s rate of fatal overdoses triple between 2010 and 2020? As our new video explains, there’s one huge difference between today’s drug epidemic and those of the past.

Fun fact: There are many black squirrels in Washington DC and they are all descended from 8 given to the National Zoo by Ontario as a gift in 1902.
Have you ever seen a black squirrel? It's a melanistic subgroup of squirrels and they may have a considerably higher cold tolerance than gray squirrels with 18% lower heat loss in temperatures below −10 °C [📹 Willem Span]

Price controls don't work to stem inflation because they do nothing to quell inflation's monetary causes. Price controls don't work in general because they smother relative price changes = shortages, surpluses, and inefficiency.
Prices too high? Wages too low? What if politicians just … changed them? It turns out that we’ve been getting the answer to that question for decades — and, as our new video explains, it’s ... not great.

Politicians can pass all the laws they want, but they can't repeal the law of supply and demand. Price controls mess with the information encoded in prices and thus cause shortages or surpluses. Great new @kiteandkeymedia.

Prices of goods, services, work, credit, and other things are best left alone from government interference. Unfortunately, politicians don’t like the outcomes so try to change prices at our peril. Markets work, governments don’t.

This covers one of the most under-discussed issues in energy conversations: energy density. Nuclear power in particular has an absolutely off the charts energy density (relationship of inputs to energy produced).
Is America on a glide path to a renewable energy future? Actually, it’s a bit more complicated than that. As our new video explains, there are powerful physical and economic constraints on where we get our energy.

The 100% renewable energy fantasy will remain a fantasy. Physics & economics beat utopian dogmatism.

Let me again state that @bradj_TX has BY FAR the best grid coverage on this website. Calm. Reasoned. Never panicked. Likes facts. #txlege
Through the rest of the week, ERCOT's projections show fairly high demand tomorrow but plenty of supply to meet it. Temperatures will be rising across the state as the week progresses, no issues in sight.

Haha. This is a fun but informative and thoughtful video from my friends at Kite & Key.
What did Ben Franklin think of the Constitution? “Meh, it’s fine.” Or words to that effect. But as our new video explains, those modest expectations may actually have been the key to America’s success.
