What Canadians and MSM are not discussing is this new emissions reduction plan for autos. Instead of using sales targets to force change they will now use emission targets to force change to evs. Current requirements of 175 grms / mile will be reduced to just 74 grms/ mile. That's a whopping 230% decrease in tailpipe emissions? Totally ridiculous target forcing the end to ICE vehicles in Canada. The US is going to loose 780,000 new car sales in Canada due to this mandate. Canada will loose its auto industry totally reliant of foreign ev makers like China! Let's cut through all the bullshit and deflection. This new ev mandate that came out in Feb 26 is why there is no deal. Carney and his friutcake net zero policies is what's really behind this trade dispute! I thought the ev mandate was postponed. In fact with a little research, I found that the real change was from sales targets to tailpipe emission targets. Clever bastard this Carney. Ramming his net zero policies down Canadian throats without any mandate to do such a thing. Very little discussion during the election about climate policy! All the discussions came down to who can get a deal done with Trump! This is dishonest politics it's its worse!
What was actually in the final version of the deal? What were the specific provisions that led to its collapse? Sources in this article contradict what Carney. There is one way to clear all this up: RELEASE THE DEAL!!! Let Canadians judge for themselves. After all, political pundits and government officials won’t pay the price. It is the Canadian worker and taxpayer who will. They have a right to know.

Liberal school lunch program another failure. Just a bandaid considering the parents can't afford the other meals. Try addressing the real problems not putting bandaids on problems.
The Liberals like to crow how they have lifted families out of poverty and children are being fed. The CP reported on a new report release yesterday by Toronto food banks that contradicts Liberal claims. A new report from Daily Bread Food Bank says the number of children struggling with food insecurity in Toronto has risen, as food bank visits held steady at more than 4.1 million visits for the second year. The non-profit’s latest Who’s Hungry report, released Tuesday, says more than one in eight children living in Toronto rely on food banks, which is nearly double the rate from 2022, when one in 15 children relied on them. The report says 67 per cent of parents have given up a meal to make sure their children had enough food to eat while 17 per cent had a child in their household go hungry at least once a week in 2026. Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread, said this rise in child hunger is “alarming,” as children became the most overrepresented group in food bank clients across the city. He says the roughly 220 food banks his organization services across the city have been feeling the strain. “The fact that it’s more children than ever before is what’s changing and that it is the working poor,” he said. “It’s a horrific tax on each of the food banks.” One in four food bank clients spent all of their income on housing, an increase from one in five clients in 2025.

Ottawa says deficits over the next five years add up to $333.3B. The budget watchdog says actual borrowing goes up $732.9B. More than DOUBLE. The gap is Crown corporation loans, capital and defence purchases. None of it counts in "the deficit," all of it gets borrowed, and all of it pays interest. Thursday, Champagne. Show us the borrowing number, not just the deficit, eh? 🇨🇦

The realities of renewables in cold, dark locations. “Yukon Energy planned to connect a $35-million Whitehorse battery-storage system to the grid this year, describing it as “crucial” for improving grid stability. But the batteries froze during last December’s cold snap after generators that had been keeping them warm failed… Energy think tanks, such as the Pembina Institute, promote adoption of renewable generation throughout the North to replace diesel generators. But the Yukon government says it has already reached the limits of its ability to incorporate renewables. Mr. Laking said the territory’s solar facilities actually drew more power than they generated during the cold snap, owing to the energy used to heat them.” theglobeandmail.com/business…

PM Harper's new book is out today. Interest comment by the former PM: The former prime minister also offers up occasional reflections on current matters. While he attended the World Economic Forum in Davos twice during in his time in office, he now says he opposes it. If he were prime minister today, Harper writes, he would end the Canadian government's participation in the WEF, an event he describes as a once-useful forum that has become a club for advancing the "narrow interests of its globalist, elitist attendees." Perhaps Canadians and especially Carney should pay attention to his words. Canada will be better off following Harper's thoughts than Carney's.

🤔 Remember the #WEScandal? Sophie Grégoire Trudeau's ambassador role was unpaid, but her flights, hotels and car service were covered. Then in a spectacular boneheaded display, the Liberal government of the day, led by her (at that time) husband Justin Trudeau, subsequently signed an agreement worth up to $543.5 million with WE's foundation before it was cancelled amid the massive public backlash and controversy. "Volunteer" didn't make the family connections irrelevant then, and it sure as hell doesn't now. Yet… Diana Carney's "volunteer" appointment as Ocean Envoy by a minister in her Prime Minister husband's government, followed thirteen days later by her PM husband @MarkJCarney announcing $1.2 billion for ocean protection, gets fiercely defended by those same Liberals, all pointing to Diana Fox Carney's salary information NOBODY asked for! Somewhere CBC pundits are brainstorming how to convincingly blame Pierre for the whole mess. Now, who remembers Anaida Poilievre's parliamentary career, which began before her marriage to Pierre, and attracted an onslaught of Liberals online voicing insinuations of favouritism, cronyism and nepotism during the last election campaign. Every "ism" in the cupboard that Liberal supporters could find was hurled at her. But somehow, and this is borrowing logic from the 'Liberalverse', Diana gets appointed, and suddenly the liberal peanut gallery vocabulary shrinks to "volunteer," with nary an "ism" in sight. Sweet mother of leftist insanity...🤦🏼‍♀️ The question is how the Prime Minister's wife got the appointment, not whether she gets a paycheque. You'd have to work quite hard to misunderstand something that simple, and yet here they are, finally putting in the effort and representing with the craziest of them. So... it's a different prime minister, and a different wife, just serving up the same deluded expectation that Canadians are too stupid to notice and too easily impressed by style without substance to insist on integrity. #ThinkForYourself #StopElectingIncompetence #MakeHypocrisyShamefulAgain #cdnpoli #Carney

Carney is a master at numbers manipulation. Has our armed forces actually increased in size? Where are our new fighters? Lots of promised future purchases that will never be completed during his mandate. Has he equipped our CAF in Latvia with the required missles defenses or drone defenses. Front line force still I'll equiped and vulnerable!

Don't understand Carneys long term plan. Everything is about Trump and the unreliability of US governance. That's is why he wants to align more closely to Europe? Trump will be gone in 2 years. What then? Continue to align with europe and ignore the biggest consumer market on earth? Diversification should not mean reducing trade with the USA it should mean expanding trade to other nations. This should be achieved thru building pipelines to get our oil to other markets. Additional LNG plants to get our gas overseas. Building infastructure to get our minerals to ports and improve port infrastructure to handle the volumes. Potash is a prime example. Saskatchewan looking to ship potash thru the USA because we lack the infastructure. Where are the mine approvals? 1 approval in 18 months with 157 more waiting for gov blessing? This has nothing to do with Trump. Our own gov failure. Why are there no new refineries on the project list. Exporting desiel, gasoline, jet fuel makes for bigger market and better profits. Much more employment for Canadians. Our heavy oil only has limited number of customers willing to refine it. Easier and cheaper to refine light crude. Look at deisel prices due to Russian refineries getting bombed. Diversification comes from making what the world needs! Carneys windmill dreams have failed. Ontario Power Generation plans to decommission and disassemble our current wind mills when life expectancy ends, no rebuilds. 100% focused on nuclear and NG plants. The 300 billion liberal plan for green energy has failed! Ev investment lost as the ev market crashed in N America. What a waste of taxpayer dollars. Yet Carney still hangs on to these failed dreams. The 2035 ev mandate? Killing the auto industry and losing 500,000 jobs is not Diversification! Whatever happened to removing trade barriers inside Canada?? Diversification starts at home! Another broken promise. I "almost" voted for Carney and his liberals. Thinking that an economist is what we needed to get this country building. He may be a expert economist but he has an agenda to prove his theory of a green economy without fossil fuels could actually be accomplished. His expertise is not being used to expand and grow our economy but to change it! His dire warnings in his book Values, about sacrifices that will have to be made to achieve this new economy, should be listened to. Who do you think will make those sacrifices? Middle class Canadians will pay the price. The rich won't be bothered. The poor will get their gov assistance while the middle class will get screwed! The advent of AI will mean much fewer government jobs. What's Carneys plan to address this future employment issue? Not a peep. Retaining? Into what, since he is decimating the private sector. Carneys focus is all wrong. These political games and Euro alignment are for his personnel gain in reputation and global popularity. Will do nothing to improve the Canadian economy. Can't even get CETA ratified by 9 countries in the EU. Aligning with the EU where we have no market access? Wake up Canada. Carney is not the leader we need today! All about his personal agenda and to hell with Canada.

Not reported on CBC... "Australia, for example, provides universal health care to citizens and permanent residents. Temporary residents, unless they come from a specified list of countries with reciprocal health-care agreements, must pay for their own private health care. International students must purchase health-care insurance as a mandatory condition of their student visas. Sweden, another universal health-care country, recently revised its rules for foreign nationals, requiring those with temporary (up to one year) permits to purchase comprehensive private health-care insurance. Family members staying in Sweden with students (for up to one year) must also purchase health-care insurance, while longer-term students are only allowed access to the government health-care system after one year of residency. And in the United Kingdom, the government requires visa applicants staying for more than six months to pay a mandatory annual fee to access the National Health Service. The charge in 2026 is roughly C$1,940 per year for most adults and C$1,455 for students, children and dependants, and must be paid in advance as part of the visa application. Clearly, Premier Smith’s idea is not ”out of touch”—it’s in line with several other universal health-care systems around the world including systems (particularly in the case of Australia and Sweden) with generally shorter wait times and greater access to physicians and medical technologies such as MRI machines. While details vary about fees and exemptions for certain populations, other countries with universal health care have recognized the fiscal burden of immigration and enacted policies to mitigate the effects."—Nadeem Esmail and Tegan Hill @FraserInstitute

CBC’s coverage of the 2026 U.S. midterms has gone far beyond standard or even in-depth foreign reporting and into outright distraction. Katie Simpson, Willy Lowry and Paul Hunter have turned their Two Blocks from the White House podcast into a near-weekly seminar on midterm maps, Senate math and “what a Democratic sweep means for Canada.” Cross Country Checkup has handed entire national call-in hours to the same topic. Matt Galloway flew The Current to Texas, and Kris Reyes has been on the ground in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley treating a single House race as a Canadian domestic story. This volume crowds out the issues that actually matter to Canadians right now The irony is thick. The U.S. midterms themselves are being driven by the economy, affordability and cost-of-living anger. CBC is covering that American economic discontent in exhaustive detail while ignoring or burying the parallel failures at home. Auditor General Karen Hogan’s recent reports slammed the Carney government on military ammunition stockpiles, public health emergency supplies, a dental-care program that blew past its budget by roughly $1.1 billion, and ongoing weaknesses in tracking money laundering. The Parliamentary Budget Officer has undercut Carney’s claims on balancing the operating budget, projecting the target will be missed and questioning the government’s shifting definitions of capital versus operating spending. These are concrete, documented failures of the current government. CBC’s airtime is instead consumed by American swing-district voters and Trump’s approval ratings The pattern looks coordinated. The PMO’s chief operating officer and senior adviser on Canada-U.S. relations is Maia Johnson, an American Democratic operative with prior roles on Hillary Clinton’s campaigns and Michael Bloomberg’s Hawkfish firm. She is the person charged with managing the day-to-day political and stakeholder operation around U.S. relations. CBC has never doe a serious story on this, shown her picture or asked about her security clearance. The sustained CBC emphasis on a potential Democratic “check” on Trump, the framing of every poll as a referendum, and the near-total displacement of domestic fiscal and accountability stories fit a playbook designed to keep older progressive Carney Boomer audiences fixated on Washington rather than on the AG and PBO findings landing with Canadians CBC can cover consequential U.S. elections. They do not need to airlift hosts, dedicate podcasts and open the national phone lines for weeks while soft-pedalling reports that show their preferred government failing on the exact economic and competence issues voters care about on both sides of the border. The result is not journalism. It is a sustained CBC distraction from domestic failures that serves the PMO

I have to fact check and provide context to Canada's Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne claim that Canada is creating jobs at twice per capita as the US. It isn't correct and as usual the Liberals trying to find irrelevant stats to pat itself on the back with. The reality is that Canada has barely created any jobs since 2025 while spending tens of billions on projects and subsidies to sustain jobs and claiming we building at a pace we haven't seen in a generation. The best thing it can do is to cut red tape and get the government out of the way. The worst part about this is they are now re-starting mass immigration and giving permanent residency to foreigners to take Canadians' jobs.
