This summer, Canada’s tourism sector did more business than ever before — by welcoming the world and being our own best customer.  More good news: we just renewed the Canada Strong Pass for the holidays and summer 2026 — so it’s more affordable to explore our incredible country.

She’s just the best …
Here's a piece of literature by me, suitable for seventeen-year-olds in Alberta schools, unlike -- we are told -- The Handmaid's Tale. (Sorry, kids; your Minister of Education thinks you are stupid babies.) John and Mary were both very, very good children. They never picked their noses or had bowel movements or zits. They grew up and married each other, and produced five perfect children without ever having sex. Although they claimed to be Christian, they paid no attention to what Jesus actually said about the poor and the Good Samaritan and forgiving your enemies and such; instead, they practised selfish rapacious capitalism, because they worshipped Ayn Rand. (Though they ignored the scene in The Fountainhead where “welcomed rape” is advocated, because who wants to dwell, and also that would have involved sex and would de facto be pornographic. Well, it kind of is, eh?) Oh, and they never died, because who wants to dwell on, you know, death and corpses and yuk? So they lived happily ever after. But while they were doing that The Handmaid’s Tale came true and Danielle Smith found herself with a nice new blue dress but no job. The end.

A country 🇨🇦 with near unlimited energy, more fresh water than any other, critical minerals for the economy of the future, good health and life expectancy beyond most developed nations, a highly educated population with enviable literacy rates, and a happiness factor that ranks among the happiest of all. Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦. So much to celebrate. 🎉

Great choice! Looking forward to seeing how you lead sport from this perspective. Congratulations @vankayak
Serving in Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cabinet as the Secretary of State for Sport is tremendous honour. As a kid who wasn’t very athletic but managed to win Olympic medals, a kinesiologist that understands how sport builds community and as a Canadian, you can count on me. 💪🏽🇨🇦

No matter who you voted for, remember Canada has its flaws, but it’s the greatest country to live in. There’s work to do, yet we’re incredibly fortunate to call it home ❤️🇨🇦

Just curious. How many of you think the defining issue for your vote is bringing back plastic straws and plastic grocery bags? It's just purely out of interest sake. For myself, it didn't even crack the top 100, but maybe I'm the only one who feels it's not a decisive issue.🤷

The pause on reciprocal tariffs announced by President Trump is a welcome reprieve for the global economy. As President Trump and I have agreed, the U.S. President and the Canadian Prime Minister will commence negotiations on a new economic and security relationship immediately following the Federal election. As part of today’s announcement, the President has signalled that the U.S. will engage in bilateral negotiations with a number of other countries. This will likely result in a fundamental restructuring of the global trading system. In that context, Canada must also continue to deepen its relationships with trading partners that share our values, including the free and open exchange of goods, services, and ideas. This election is importantly about who can best fight for Canadian families, workers, and businesses at the negotiating tables with the United States and other potential partner countries. The stakes have never been higher. I am working hard to earn that responsibility to protect our country through this crisis and to build Canada strong.

Remarkably powerful comments today from men's national team head coach Jesse Marsch on U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated rhetoric suggesting Canada become a U.S. state. Marsch: "Canada is a strong, independent nation that’s deep-rooted in decency... a place that values high ethics and respect, unlike the polarized, disrespectful and, often now, hate-fuelled climate that’s in the U.S."
