Having worked in the ventilation field I hard agree with this ⬇️. Improving poorly ventilated spaces is a great idea, but over selling the impact on covid transmission with 🚨🚨🚨 could turn ppl away from improving ventilation because they don't see the improvements they r sold

This was the first time I saw Kane. He was superb that night, scoring a hat trick. After a late sending off for the keeper and no subs left he stepped up to play in goal full of the enthusiasm of playing a fantastic game up front. Shame it didn't translate!
Some of the worst goalkeeping I’ve ever seen. Forget golden glove…now he’s a Ballon d’Or winner. Never give up on your dream, kids.

Went to watch @ProfBrianCox last night. His new emergence lecture was superb. Making quantum physics accessible. The PJ Harvey track about the Voyager crafts was sublime. DD was raving about it, lovely to see someone so young enthused about the mysteries of the universe

Great song but I must be getting old, so many cuts in this video, almost a new shot every beat. My mind just can't process what's going on.
Replying to @oliviarodrigo

Taking a moment as our film on The ACTUAL Oldest Pub in England has now passed half a million views to become the most watched video on @HistoricEngland 's channel. Obviously, most of the commentators still think I'm a plonker, though... 🫣 youtu.be/RlyvHJtptbc?si=TI5n…

This year's flu survey is about to start in the UK. If you can spend a couple of mins each week recording any flu like symptoms why not sign up flusurvey.net/auth/signup It's also useful to see how many weeks you report symptoms over the flu season

Many people somehow believe that it's appropriate to attempt to eliminate many kinds of risks completely. But many tiny risks are more costly to eliminate than to accept. Sometimes the costs are more than money. Human socialization is among the most important and healthy aspects of human life. But some people would completely avoid socializing, or would cover them their faces with masks, to reduce risk, and in the process, live less fulfilling lives. From another perspective, consider what would happen if modern Farms quit using chemicals. We would face slightly lower risks of consequences associated with those chemicals, but we would face massively higher risks associated with crop losses and poor crop quality.
Humans are surprisingly bad at understanding tiny risks. Which is unfortunate. Because modern life has become surprisingly good at measuring them.

TL;DR: A pre-post study found a 4-component pathway with portable HEPA/plasmacluster units cut hospital infections (HAIs) by 69% in an oncology unit. But the authors explicitly state this cannot prove causality. 🧵: 1/11

Statistical Caveat 3: Misreported significance on rare events. The authors report significant drops for C. diff (2 vs 0, p=0.042) and fungal cases (2 vs 0, p=0.041). Standard Fisher's Exact testing gives p=0.498 (not statistically significant). 10/11

Summary: The study shows a promising low-cost quality bundle. However, as the authors acknowledge, the design cannot prove causality. Controlled multi-center trials are required before attributing benefits to air purification. pjms.org.pk/index.php/pjms/a… 11/11
