I made compend.org. It's a Letterboxd-style review site for all earthly things. It just seemed like a fun idea. I'll keep adding features if people use it, probably.

In my line of work I talk to a wide range of people from poor to rich, rural to urban. Something that unites them all is that they have practically zero knowledge about the history of the town they live in and have nonexistent curiosity about the rest of the state.

MGS4 depicts the next generation of proxy wars and war economies waged by unmanned weapons and PMCs. A future where parties do not fight, but are represented by drones, proxy soldiers and corporations. In this future, those who sell or rent weapons introduce SOPs to take full control of the battlefield. The concept of "arms laundering" will also emerge, which will allow the parties to escape from the SOPs. Also, by suppressing SOPs, the battlefield can be controlled.

Thank god we can find and intercept lost hikers as they mistakenly run away from rescue in dense forest!
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
