I am constantly battling with drawing what I feel will garner the most engagement vs passion projects. There’s been a noticeable decline in my output because I’m overly pressuring myself to create for money. —
and unfortunately it’s incredibly difficult for me to draw something I don’t care about. I’ve struggled with commissions and requests for this exact same reason. I care too much about my art to separate it from myself. And that’s a terrible mindset to bring into a business.
I talked to this person once! He seemed eager to draw well, but struggled a lot with understanding the fundamentals. And seemed very frustrated by that fact.
Hope he finds his way, art is a terribly difficult thing to learn. That realization really slapped him in the face 🫠.

learning to draw is basically like playing a roguelite. you’ll have shitty drawings, cool drawings that you can’t recreate consistently, but you’ll pick up things in each drawing to help with the next. and it’ll piss u off

Some people really can’t just accept that AI didn’t exist to create art, lazy talentless people who use it to generate art based on stolen data cannot understand the meaning behind the process of creating art, what makes art has a meaning is the process that led to the result.
