This month marks 2 years of serving as your Councilwoman.
In that time, I’ve delivered over $107M in direct community investments and helped secure $300M+ in private investments for our district.
Here’s a quick(ish) recap of the highlights — I tried to keep it under 5 minutes… emphasis on tried.
Cheers to the wins so far and the momentum ahead!

i have served on three bipartisan redistricting commissions, including Missouri’s 2022 State House Redistricting Commission. I know firsthand that drawing fair maps isn’t easy. What we’re witnessing today is something entirely different.
In my latest op-ed, I explain why Missouri’s new congressional map should concern Kansas Citians, how it further divides communities along Troost Avenue, and why I’m voting NO on Proposition A this November.

🤣🤣🤣 MPH for the win
KC will remove a swath of the East Side from its funding for a downtown Royals ballpark, but hasn't ruled out folding more of Midtown into its "stadium impact area." bizjournals.com/kansascity/n…

We are thrilled to announce that we are formally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for another five years! We're proud to have maintained this "gold standard" level of excellence since 1989. This is a huge accomplishment for all our staff and volunteers. Every part of the Zoo is considered for this process, from animal care to business operations, conservation work to safety, and everything in between. We would like to thank our community for all their support!
There was/is tension between Black and White women feminists due to the racial politics additive to gender politics. This tension, well documented, impacted legal progress for all women with White women advancing faster. I watched a panel discussion where Gloria Steinem was speaking and as a sorta gotcha moment, the moderator asked “and what do you say to Black women about feminism and progress” (something like that) and she answered “I don’t speak, I listen.” May her memory be a blessing.

One of the lessons I keep relearning is how many people do illegal things in urban spaces and get away with it. Illegal event spaces, no plans/permits for major work, running a full time business out of a home (R). Etc.

I feel for Vegas. I really do. August has been brutal. The city needs to rethink it's marketing, pricing, and experience for the guests. Old Vegas is needed asap. Comps, cheap meals, good stakes at the tables. Private Equity has ruined the experience.
No reservation? No problem. Hell's Kitchen is now accepting walk-ins daily from 11a-4pm.

I convinced Ellie and Abby to cruise around town politicking with me this morning and we had a blast.
We went to the Midtown Democrats meeting in Westport then heard a great campaign message from #TeamMPH in the third district before finishing it off with Starbucks.

Too many homes in Kansas City are being lost to neglect. Not because they cannot be saved, but because the cost of rehabilitation is often too great. I’m introducing Ordinance 260658 to establish a $750,000 Housing Accelerator Fund that would help qualified rehabilitation partners restore abandoned and distressed homes instead of demolishing them.
Public investment must create public benefit. Homes offered for ownership through this program must be sold to people who will live in them—not LLCs or corporations—while approved rental properties must remain affordable for at least 15 years. The ordinance will be heard by the Finance, Governance and Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, July 28. I invite you to review the proposal and share your testimony. – at Kansas City, MO

Today @MayorLucasKC & @KansasCity leaders paved the way for a downtown #Royals baseball stadium. In 2019 & 2020 @QuintonLucasKC compared a new stadium to buying a Maserati. I asked him if the city now has a Maserati.
"No, I don't have a Maserati, I have maturity."

Tonight, Union Station lights up in celebration of the Western Auto sign relighting. After going dark indefinitely last summer, the fully renovated Western Auto sign once again brings its iconic glow to the Kansas City skyline.
