For the last 10 years, questions about accountability in Ugandan football have remained a concern. Now that IGG Aisha Naluzze has reportedly opened investigations into FUFA President Moses Magogo over alleged mismanagement of government funds, Ugandans deserve answers.

Thank you Eng. Halimah for the support. The ULS must stop waiting for legal work to find lawyers. It must actively go out, build institutional partnerships, open new markets and bring opportunities to its members. – at Kampala, Uganda

How can someone without adequate academic grounding meaningfully debate complex legislation on taxation, petroleum, atomic energy and other technical subjects? Parliament carries enormous legislative responsibilities. It is time to consider reforms requiring Members of Parliament to possess at least a university degree, while ensuring that competence and effective representation remain central to the debate. – at Kampala, Uganda

Colleague Advocates,
During my door-to-door visits to hundreds of law firms, I came face to face with the realities of legal practice, particularly the difficult conditions under which many young lawyers work and struggle to survive.
Those visits were an eye-opener. They strengthened my conviction that the ULS urgently needs leadership prepared to take bold, audacious and practical steps to improve members’ welfare, working conditions and business opportunities.
I reminded colleagues that the Uganda Medical Association successfully advocated for the restoration of government stipends for medical interns. Why shouldn't the ULS fight just as hard for its members?
I intend to lobby Government to recruit at least two young lawyers in every local government. Combined with our proposed ULS incubation centres across the country, this initiative could create employment and professional opportunities for nearly 700 young lawyers.
We cannot build a strong Law Society on the backs of struggling lawyers. We cannot effectively defend the rule of law, influence national policy or command institutional respect when our own members are economically vulnerable.
Our strength as a Society must begin with the strength of our members. A profession that cannot take care of its own will struggle to influence anyone else.
That is why my campaign is unapologetically MEMBERS FIRST.
MORE WORK. BETTER INCOMES. STRONGER PRACTICES.
A stronger profession. A bigger market. A better future.
