Here's my review of @mrwriterman79's simply brilliant book: "Killing Maradona". As someone who became obsessed with Maradona during Mexico 86, I have read a number of books on the flawed genius, but this is the absolute best. football-nerd.org/2026/10/26…

I have a confession to make. Despite the fact that he played for a nation that was not fondly thought of in my own country, as a result of the Falklands Conflict just four years previously. Also, t…

This is wonderful, thank you Gareth. It’s so great to hear from fans of Diego & those who have read extensively on him that my book stands out. I wanted it to be something those with zero knowledge could read but also super fans might love. Thrilled you liked the “drama” scenes!

Trying not to get mad. It’s just a nonsense award, the Eurovision of football, but still… the idea that 23 players were better than Luis Díaz last season is ridiculous. Vinicius Jr? Ferran Torres? He absoluted bossed PSG but was placed behind half their squad. What a crock.

Was easily the best left winger in the world last season, what a shame he isn’t appreciated enough

Lucho had 7g + 4a in 12 champions league games (incl 2 goals in an incredible first half vs PSG away in Paris) to avg a goal or assist every 89 mins. He averaged a goal or assist every 76.5mins for Bayern in the league with 32 g/a in 32 games. 24th is some major shade.
Colombian Fútbol Report 🇨🇴@ColFootyReportOct 26
Luis Diaz got 49 goal contributions in 51 total games for Bayern in the 2025/26 season while also being crucial to his team outside of his goal contributions thanks to his high press and workrate. Despite this, he ranked 24th in the Ballon D'or. No words... 🤐🇨🇴

45 - Luis Díaz had a hand in 45 goals in all competitions during the 2025-26 season for Bayern Munich (26 goals, 19 assists), a total only four players from Europe’s big-five leagues managed to exceed. Productive.

If ever you needed evidence that the ballon d’or is a PR and popularity contest… 24th? Seriously? Colombian players continue to be underrated and disrespected. We see you, Lucho. ❤️⚽️🇨🇴

This kid has an insane ceiling. Only 18 and playing like this at a new club in a new country. Excited to see him return to parent club Brighton & Hove Albion in the future. Have they unearthed their next big young diamond to follow Caicedo, Baleba etc?

Maty Orozco with 3 assists in under an hour for Castellón today. 3-0 up they could afford to rest him after that. The kid is tearing up trees so far, long may it continue…

Incredible signing for Celtic, still surprised at top 5 league side playing European football didn’t snap him up but reckon one probably will by the end of the season if he keeps this up…

OTD 1997: Diego Maradona played his last ever professional game. Not any game, a superclásico at El Monumental! Maradona came off at HT, replaced by a 19-year old Juan Román Riquelme. Boca beat River 2-1. Diego announced his retirement five days later on his 37th birthday.
