Most of what goes wrong in a first hardware build is not the code. It is power. Live #6 of Build Nigeria 2026: the battery rule and why packs built from loose cells are not allowed, what a battery management board does, charging while a device runs, mains, relays and stop buttons, fusing high current, and a five-step first power-up. 35 teams are building now. We have read 39 Build Plans for Build Nigeria 2026. 20 are approved, 18 went back to be fixed. None went back for being too ambitious. They went back because something was missing: a buyer with a name, a block diagram, a parts list with prices, or a safety answer that names a person. The strongest plans had one thing in common. The team had already spoken to the person with the problem, and knew a detail only someone who asked would know. On Saturday, every approved team gets a public page where anyone can see what they are building and press "I'd use this". If one of them solves a problem you have, tell them. 1st prize is a ₦950,000 Creality SparkX i7 Combo. To compete for prizes, a team needs ₦25,000 of parts from Microscale by 1 November; past purchases count. forge.microscale.net/build-n… #BuildNigeria2026

A soil-moisture reading means nothing to a farmer until it saves something she can count. Ask what she loses today, how often, and in what unit: birds, seedlings, bags of grain. Then build to stop that loss, and show her the number. Three things that work in the field: 1. Sealed and shaded. Sun and rain kill boards. 2. Water near power? Keep it low-voltage. 3. Leave it at the farm for days, not hours. Build Nigeria 2026: the build starts Monday 26 October. Build Plans close Sunday 18 October. We've read the first ones, and the same four mistakes keep coming up. 1. No block diagram. A photo of a hand drawing is fine. 2. A board that can't carry the design. Count your pins, and check how you'll program it. 3. A buyer who doesn't match the problem. Pick the one you're building for. 4. Safety in general terms. Don't say "a qualified person will check it". Tell us who. And design for the power cut: what does your device do when mains and Wi-Fi are both off at night? Your plan link is in your registration email. Lost it? Email [email protected]. 1st prize is a ₦950,000 Creality SparkX i7 Combo. To compete for prizes, your team needs ₦25,000 of parts from Microscale by 1 November; past purchases count. forge.microscale.net/build-n… #BuildNigeria2026

Track tip: Off-Grid Power. The best power builds start with someone who loses money when the power goes. Find that person and ask: when the power goes, what does it cost you? Get a number. That number is your selling point. Lithium packs must be LiFePO4 with a BMS. Anything connected to mains must be enclosed. If it touches mains, declare it in your Build Plan. 1st prize: a ₦950,000 Creality SparkX i7 Combo. ₦25,000 of parts from Microscale by 1 November to compete; past purchases count. Registration and Build Plans close Sunday 18 October. forge.microscale.net/build-n… #BuildNigeria2026 #BNPower

Twenty-five of the hundred marks in Build Nigeria 2026 are for evidence that a real person wants what you built. It is the biggest single block of marks. This is how you get it. THE THREE QUESTIONS 1. How do you handle this today? 2. What does it cost you when it goes wrong? 3. The last time you bought something to fix this, what did you buy, and what did you pay? Never ask "would you buy this?" People say yes to be kind. Ask what they already paid for. Register (closes Sunday 11 October): forge.microscale.net/build-n… Build Plan due Sunday 18 October.
