It all comes down to the information environment. Inflation is down, growth is up, border interceptions are down, crime is down, vaccines work great--and none of it matters. Trump created a conspiracist permission structure to ignore or deny all the facts and focus on hate.

The flip side is that Trump ran an awful campaign. He gave a terrible RNC speech, his VP was deeply unpopular, he lost the debate, he had no ground game to speak of, he offended key demographic groups ... and none of it mattered.

It is our imagination, not graphics, that allows us to suspend our disbelief and get immersed in a world or story. More graphics power means we are often using less imagination. This is why so many games look good, but feel shallow. Food tastes best when we chew it oursevles.

Idea: "Hurricane hunter" airplane simulator video game. Hours of navigating the worst environment imaginable, find the eye of the storm, gather data, then hours more of flying to get out safely. Also: possible vomit. Seems about as stressful of an experience as I can imagine.
