HR told her that weekends were included in the calendar days stated in her leave approval. She replied: “Then why do we have annual leave and weekends if you’re going to count my weekends as leave days? I don’t work on weekends.” HR was speechless. Her manager eventually called her in and warned her against interpreting company policies to suit herself. But honestly, I want to hear from employers and HR professionals. If an employee applies for four days of leave and two of those days fall on a weekend, should the weekends count as part of the leave? Because this Gen Z girl might be onto something. 😂
