You are ignoring the proposed property tax rebates that would have offset any cost of the referendum and would have eliminated 97% of City property taxes. It’s okay they’ll realize I was telling them the truth eventually.
There’s a mental dissonance many people have that can be very challenging for a local elected official.
They want the restaurants, shops, entertainment, and “things to do” but don’t want the additional population needed to make those things viable.
So build a bunch of buildings that need a high level of government service but they don’t pay taxes. How do you propose we fund the services the people that live in those homes want and expect?
A platitude without a policy is pandering.
Hamilton County’s political shift over the past decade should be a wake-up call for Indiana.
We need to seriously rethink our approach to residential development. Instead of prioritizing massive apartment complexes and high-density housing, we should be encouraging single-family homeownership, strong neighborhoods, and communities where families can put down roots for generations.
Growth alone isn't success. The question is whether we're building communities that preserve the character, traditions, and values that have made Indiana such a great place to live.
Indiana shouldn't sacrifice its small-town identity and family-centered communities in the name of unchecked development.
Let's build more homes (not apartments), strengthen homeownership, and protect the Hoosier way of life! 🇺🇸
(Oh… and then DON’T TAX THE HOME!)

Braun: “When it comes to our system, which uses a convention, that's a few people. We've done it traditionally. I had to run in a primary. To me, the more you open anything up to the people, you're probably going to get a better result.
“That's going to be a big discussion for our party, because we still, at this point in time, have all those levers to play with. And again, the more you democratize how you pick people, I'm going to be for it rather than doing it behind closed doors, or where fewer people can weigh into it.
"We haven't even gotten there yet. I view everything that happened on Tuesday is a golden opportunity and a wake-up call.”
You draw the map for a rainy day, not a sunny one. This is why.
This is insane! Here is a map of yesterday’s Indiana House results if they were drawn under the attempted Republican gerrymander map from last Fall. Thank you to @Vulst3 for breaking down the data to make this map. The gerrymander could’ve netted us a 9-0 or 8-1 map potentially!
Every Indiana Republican politico should watch this speech. While the delivery wasn’t perfect (still pretty good) the messaging was. He mentioned the office one time and only one issue specific to the office.
Get ready, he’s coming in 2028.

I expected Ballard to pull unhappy moderates/GOP from Engling. Turns out they were pissed enough that they just voted for Bayh.
This election is a very clear sign for Indiana Republicans that we should stop picking statewide candidates at party conventions.
Not sure about that. Those issues certainly animate people in rural Indiana but that’s not why the soccer moms in HamCo turned on Rs. They don’t have those anywhere near their communities. There’s a bigger issue.
“In unrelated news, I’m hearing OSHA has identified a recent 80% drop in risk to legislative staffers from flying laptops and assorted airborne electronics…”

Can you imagine if Indiana had redistricted?
Might have lost the R majority of congressional seats. Quick someone do the math!
When people have asked me how it was looking…
Me: “looks like 2006”.
Them: “Oh it can’t be that bad, right?”
Turns out I was wrong. It’s worse.
Voting is still happening in Boone County. Won’t release any numbers until voting is complete. It was 42% turnout at 4pm today.
Word on the street is that Boone County has run out of “I voted” stickers at some voting locations. Either turnout is high or poorly-planned sticker logistics.
How will people lord over their fellow citizens by advertising the completion of their civic duty without stickers?
“Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.” - Romans 3:27-28

So how does this work if he wins the election in two weeks? Will he resign again? Resigning doesn’t take him off the ballot. So if he wins (and resigns again) then there’s a caucus to replace him for the entire 4-year term? Wild. xitter.gq/nkellyin/status/211299…
