Smalltime sport - give Salford the week’s grace they need. Robbing paying spectators of a spectacle. Embarassing the sport in front of a national @BBCSport audience. Lessening revenues for @Saints1890 if away fans decide to stay away. Effecting the integrity of the fixture list. @superleague and @TheRFL - hang your heads in shame. #LetThemPlay

Spoke to a senior official from a Super League club who described the Salford Red Devils situation as a "Fucking debacle from an RFL governance perspective". It is hard to disagree with that assessment. You do have to wonder when, or if, the RFL will start to take charge of the sport and lead it.
