A clearing trend yesterday revealed the extent of the ghostly #rimeice deposited on Halloween. However, the rime ice isn't expected to stick around, with some models suggesting we will challenge daily record high temperatures later this week.
A couple more pictures from yesterday's MWOBS #Halloween celebration, featuring 5 pumpkins carved by summit staff and Nimbus's Halloween costume (he dressed up as intern Ellie).
Which carved pumpkin is your favorite?

The sky lit up at sunrise this morning as a series of fuel trucks made their way up the auto road, delivering the fuel that will help power backup generators and keep weather observers and state park staff warm through the winter. #nh #mwobs #mountwashington #winteriscoming
There were mostly clear skies at sunrise this morning, allowing the shadow of Mount Washington to appear particularly prominent on small patches of valley fog. Mostly sunny skies and dry conditions will persist through the weekend before a cold front approaches on Monday.
The high-level clouds lit up around sunset this evening. These clouds will thicken and lower overnight, with intermittent fog possible tomorrow afternoon.

The weekend began with 2.3 inches of fresh snowfall, but ample sunshine, low humidity, and above-freezing temperatures over the past few days have nearly returned the ground to bare rocks.

The weather tower aglow in yesterday's sunrise, with a few remnants of rime ice hanging on before being gobbled up by today's warm, wet fog. Behind the tower off to the west you can see the shadow of Mount Washington, cast by the rising sun. #nh #mountwashington #sunrise #mwobs
The summit burst out of the fog this morning and was treated to pretty spectacular snoliage! Temperatures will rise well above freezing tomorrow, however, melting much of the rime ice we've been able to accumulate over the past several days. #nh #mountwashington #snoliage
