Most able bodied people aren’t afraid of becoming disabled because they believe the system will support them. That doctors will work night and day to figure out what’s wrong when they’ll most likely tell you it’s just anxiety.

The irony being, which not many seem to know, is Pilates was designed for disabled war vets to be able to be done from a bed with spring mechanisms as resistance.
The rich white women that redefined a pilates class to be a skinny status symbol really need to be destroyed because it’s the peak form of exercise for fat and disabled people.

All anti-mask laws—even those with so called “medical exceptions”—stigmatize mask-wearing. Fewer people wearing masks increases the spread of infectious diseases. No matter how lawmakers try to spin it, any law that criminalizes wearing a mask endangers public health. Period.

Disabled people are forced to experience a harsh reality that you think you have the luxury to ignore. Disability is universal & inevitable. Disabled people are resilient as fuck, out of necessity. It shouldn’t take you becoming disabled to start listening to disabled people.

$130 is nothing to some people, but the difference in whether or not we get 2 weeks of groceries for me. i choose groceries. and how do i survive? barely. with many sacrifices and heaps of stress. like a LOT of people do, and most disabled people glad you can afford it though!

what should people do if they can’t afford passports 😭 genuinely escape is so inaccessible for so many of us - especially disabled folks

This. This. This. As a disabled person who is unable to work publicly, tiktok has been a main source of income the past couple years. What about the small business owners who are losing their platforms they worked so hard to build? If y’all can’t understand that, you’re lost.
telling tiktok creators to “start filling out job applications” as if the job market hasn’t been a shitshow for years is so??? that’s what drove so many people to tiktok in the first place, like there aren’t even 2 million+ jobs to hire people for, let alone in a timely manner??

today the doctor i work with said at the end of the day that almost every single patient they saw today was sick in some way and said “god, we are so screwed” because it is so not normal
Getting sick every year was not this common before the pandemic, and I will not be gaslit into not knowing my own body and medical history prior to 2020. Maybe y’all got sick multiple times a year, every year, but not me. This is not normal.

A 67 year old amputee & wheelchair user lived with his son who had cerebral palsy They were killed in Eaton fire while waiting for an ambulance that never came Many disabled people can’t evacuate on their own. They need to be included in evacuation plans (yet almost never are)

my cat eats freeze-dried raw ahi tuna treats from vital essentials. i was assuming initially that since it’s fish, it would be safe since it seems to be mainly in dairy, poultry, and cattle - would it be unsafe actually? if anyone knows, i wanna keep him safe 🫶🏾

It is OK to cancel plans if you are sick. It is far better than making others sick, who will make others sick & so on & so forth until -- at multiple points in that chain of transmission -- someone becomes permanently disabled or further disabled or dead. You can prevent that.

It’s not. If disabled people themselves want to use a different term, that’s up to them, not you.
