My kids now have to solve age appropriate math problems before each episode of Bluey, thanks to the miracle of AI reverse engineering and upgrading my TV 🔥🔥🔥
how is every school lesson not a opus 5.5 "bottoms up explainer video" i'd literally learn
i can literally learn anything in 20x faster by telling opus "explain this hyper intuitively bottoms up with the most simple step by step animations so i really understand concretely"
This morning, as I was picking up anchovies from the hotel buffet, a man stopped me:
"You have an amazing body, sir."
In the past 2 years, strangers have complimented my physique almost every day.
I grew up tiny. Until I turned 17, adults called me "Madam," and kids bullied me for my noodly arms.
When I moved to Bali in 2018, I started surfing and did a bit of calisthenics because everybody is topless and sexy.
Getting in shape slowly transformed me:
In 2021, I started sleeping properly.
In 2023, I started eating healthy.
In 2025, I started lifting and running.
I became a different person:
- I never go to bed past 10 pm
- I stopped smoking and drinking
- I like what I see in the mirror
- I get deep work done more easily
- I receive compliments from strangers
- I pick the healthiest option on the menu
- I don't need motivation to go to the gym; I'm pulled towards it
Fitness did not just impact my body, but also my identity.
Muscles are the tip of the iceberg.
Move your body.

It’s related to the over fixation on developing a routine for your child. “Bathe them every night at 7pm sharp, read them exactly 11 books, do the elaborate light show you always do, get the sock puppets out, share a rose and thorn from your day, in bed by 8:15 on the dot” etc. Then you can’t go on vacation with your kids or bring them over to a friends house past 6pm, because they don’t have the sock puppets or the special soap you use, or the 11 books. The routine is so inflexible and complicated that it contributes to the larger home-based culture of retreat in America, because being anywhere but your house makes the routine challenging

My grandma asked me today: "If everyone in the world wrote down their problems and put them in a hat, would you risk grabbing one, or keep yours?" It changed how I see life...

People always find it crazy when they learn that Deel is a 7,000+ person, fully remote company.
They always ask me, “How do you guys do it? Doesn’t it feel weird never meeting your team? I could never.”
Funnily enough, my answer is always the same. It’s all I’ve ever known. It feels natural to me, and I wouldn’t do it any other way.
I do think it’s generational, though. At least for me, it started young.
When I was 12, I joined an AoE3 clan with people I’d never met. Every day after school I’d rush home to jump on TeamSpeak, chat for hours, test crazy new strats, and compete. Somewhere along the way, they stopped feeling like strangers.
Years later, League of Legends was no different. Grinding ranked, inviting a random teammate to duo after a great game, and before you knew it, you were playing together every night.
Looking back, I think gaming taught an entire generation how to collaborate remotely long before Slack, Zoom etc existed.
It normalized building trust, friendships, and shared goals with people you might never meet in person. I think that’s part of why remote work has always felt so natural to me.
For us, collaborating and trusting through a screen was never the new thing. It was where we grew up.

btw this is a good example of what i meant with "reflexively" reaching for AI. You tinker with AI for a while, and you just reach for this. This was an obvious thing to try when I saw I needed to use windows and was on my mac. You want to train your brain on this intuition.

Major cheat code for life: realizing you really can just wake up one day and say "that's enough of that" and change direction completely.

The dream ADHD career: Being the idea person who comes up with creative concepts, connects random dots, and sees the big picture… then happily hands everything over to someone else to actually build and finish.
Because the ideation phase is pure dopamine.

i'm obsessed with AI DIY projects
my favorite one right now is this guy who built an AI system that listens for birds outside his apartment, figures out what species they are, and paints them on his wall.
here's how the whole thing works:
1. a cheap usb mic on his balcony listens for birdsong 24/7
2. BirdNET, Cornell's AI model trained on 6,000+ species, names each bird species from the sound alone (no camera needed)
3. every time it hears one, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image paints that exact bird in the style of an Edo-period japanese woodblock print
4. the new painting drops into a live collage of everything that's been singing outside in the last 24 hours
5. and it all shows up on a framed e-ink display on his wall that reads "heard today" like a little museum placard for his neighborhood
knowing which birds visit you used to take a field guide, a trained ear, plus years of patient practice.
teddy just glances at the frame on his wall and sees the cardinal came back this morning
honestly i'm highly tempted to build one myself haha

The marketing around having kids is so bad
Infinite negative questions around how you're sleeping, help is expensive, travel is hard, etc etc
Almost no one talks about how fun it is. Right now she's in a stage where few things are as fun as just watching her for 1-2 hrs

SpaceX raised only $12B of capital before going public. With that $12B, they revolutionized the rocket industry, built a global satellite network, and created arguably the most innovative company of all time.
The federal government spends $12B every 15 hours and still can’t get its shit together. Prior to SpaceX, NASA was sending astronauts into space on Soviet-era Russian Soyuz capsules.
So no, I don’t find Elon’s wealth to be a problem, and I wouldn’t trust Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders to allocate a single dollar of it.

USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then — I must report this calmly — the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we…?"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished — an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
