The Farcaster protocol is perfect for Digital Public Infrastructure. I’m happy @balajis is doing this. It fits perfectly well for NS and maintains the ability to exit. The problem that needs to be solved is how to drive down the costs required to launch/sustain a new client.

What happened with @Artizen was another blow to public goods funding. For a long time now, we've cultivated the energy and builders required to create digital public infrastructure (DPI). And yet, we still lack a reliable path from promising idea to sustainable infrastructure.

The problem is that the EF and all of their spinoffs have abandoned this pursuit. And the Public Goods builders are now prey to the Artizens of the world. I hope we can find the right process. A lot of good ideas out there without the right funding.

My project @city_sync_ is one of them. I believe it to be an insanely promising project, but we are DPI, and we have no avenues for funding. If we fumble this in Ethereum, it will have been a huge mistake.

I look at intelligence from the perspective of crystallized intelligence, which is the knowledge and skills we accumulate throughout our life. I think that idea also extends to collective intelligence, and how we preserve and call upon collective knowledge as individuals.

For example, someone can now use AI to evaluate hundreds of job applicants without understanding how those evaluations were made. This is the basis of my AI fears. Our ability to make consequential decisions grows faster than our ability to evaluate those decisions.

People act as if this is a big nothing burger, and because of that, we've centered our entire discussion of AI Risk around the absurd starting point of extinction events. Sigh.
