Shoutout to Diana Chan McNally for overcoming all the bullshit. first renter to be elected to city councillor, has been THE frontline worker for Toronto's homeless population. The city is better for it with her in council.

it's moving to witness the occasional wisdom of crowds, how steadfast people can be, how thoroughly they can see, even through the manipulation and hatefesting attempts
Over a quarter-million more votes than she received in her previous win. A huge vote of confidence from Torontonians.

Don’t know if this has been said yet, but Olivia Chow is the first mayor to ever receive over 500,000 votes

Bradford started campaigning long before it was official and had raised more money than his campaign was allowed to spend at the onset of the campaign. I guess the man and the machine thought they had the ideal match...though like Peter I do not understand why they felt that way.
After a flat and lame campaign in 2023, for no good reason Conservatives promoted Bradford from the next day on, to the exclusion of other good centre right candidates. A weak candidate with better talking points does not make a winner.

Olivia Chow has won with already the most votes of any Toronto mayor in the city's history, finally toppling Mel's record from 2000.

This result doesn't surprise me. The polling felt off. It didn't reflect what could easily be seen in the streets, didn't match the Bradford rhetoric. The City is far less on edge than it was 2023-2025. Still stressed, still struggle, but there's just so much more warmth.

there is something operatic about a mayor attacking a man personally during a dispute in the eighth year of a ten year business contract , after a pandemic, millions of dollars, ownership changes, and more (pushing so hard the business brand was removed from a building practically overnight, inappropriate conversations with councillors were held, law firms replaced, filing dates ignored) then losing your mayoralty to the man he endorsed. 🤷‍♀️

Great night for Toronto. Chow back as Mayor. Council gets more progressive. Ausma Malik + Alejandra Bravo are returning. Nate Erskine-Smith, Mike Layton, Chiara Padovani, Sara Ehrhardt and Diana Chan-McNally are joining.

Voting in Spadina-Fort York today and I have never seen a line this long. It’s been 2 hours and we’re not even close to submitting our ballot. A single scantron machine at this poll 😐 #TorontoElection #TorontoVotes2026
