this discourse really made me realize a lot of ppl don’t see « artist » as a job or role, but as a prestigious status you can be rewarded with. and it has very little to with actual art making as much as "ideas" and elitism. big sign of anti-intellectualism imo

There’s a very sick level of dehumanization some kpop fans enact against these idols (who are performers) In order to seem like they’re art critics. It’s xenophobic and lame
Replying to @rhysdia
like they’re just puppets sitting around and getting told what to do, say, wear etc, how do you call that art?

u people genuinely don’t understand that kpop is a group project like do u get mad at actors for not producing or writing the script? u guys don’t value the elements that compose the final product enough to realize that they are also specialized skills
if you want a genuine answer, it’s because the members themselves are nowhere involved in the artistic process of the song itself or any of the other elements

this idea that idols are lazy or unskilled is rooted in the fact that people view musical contribution as a participation trophy like no there’s a reason why producing is a full time job. creative direction is a full time job. and idols do get some level of input across the board

i personally don’t feel comfortable supporting a2o because i’m older than all of them by 4-7 years but i think holding idols within the same industry to the same moral standards as you will never work out no matter how much people on twitter try so
my unwoke take is that I don't think idols doing a cool looking dance trend is encouraging child exploitation to the extent people are acting like it does ...
