AVIF is an image format that can compress up to 50% smaller than JPEG & 20% smaller than WebP. In Chrome, coming to Firefox & has a few 🔧 options: goo.gle/avif, squoosh.app, avif.io
Even though AVIF isn't support everywhere yet, we can still use the format in native HTML with the <picture> element. The <picture> element allows for progressive support as we can list the image sources in the order in which we want loaded, and the browser will load the first that it supports. If browser doesn't support <picture> at all, it will fallback to using the default <img>.

If a web page listing is elevated into the featured snippet position, we no longer repeat the listing in the search results. This declutters the results & helps users locate relevant information more easily. Featured snippets count as one of the ten web page listings we show.

So... a client's category page mysteriously was not indexable and kept returning a 'soft 404' with the URL inspector. Turns out, it was because /404/ was in the URL as the category ID (and not anywhere else). We updated it to /43/ and it indexed immediately.
