“Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine, The Telegraph can reveal.
The billionaire tech entrepreneur approached the US president with the proposal to introduce speed limits on the system, which hampered Ukraine’s drone defences, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.
One of the sources said Mr Trump “agreed” with Mr Musk’s suggestion, paving the way for the Pentagon to execute the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade version of the satellite communications system.

EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.

We recently celebrated International Cat Day, and it's the perfect occasion to introduce the feline members of CD PROJEKT RED.
The ones who claim the chair next to us are convinced they're always hungry, occasionally knock things over, somehow reach the highest shelves, faithfully guard company secrets while we work from home, and never miss a chance to purr us on through the day.
P.S. This post was created with a cat on a lap.

I now have a $3 trade deficit with the coffee shop so I am imposing a 50% trade tariff on them.
Today my coffee cost me $4.50

I disagree that Software Engineers should be accountable. Everyone writes bad code. Some more than others.
If that bad code can be easily released to cause havoc in the real world, the problem is the management and processes that enabled it. Hold the company and its management responsible.
All programmers that I know wish they could spend more time on tests, have better QA processes, have good practices like canary deployments, etc. We have to actually force ourselves to release code we don't think is good enough because management is standing there tapping their foot and pointing at their watch.
The problem at Crowdstrike isn't the engineer that messed up, because all of their engineers will mess up sooner or later. The problem is the poor processes they have in place, a lack of sensible precautions like canary deployments and sufficient automated and manual testing. The fault lies 100% with management, and I hope they are held accountable in the lawsuits that follow.
But watch them pay themselves hefty bonuses while they shift the blame to the people at the bottom of the hierarchy who didn't have responsibility or a say in the matter.
